I'm out for the sub 3:15 at London. I may be out completely and deferring as only short and few runs in last 4 weeks since pulling hamstring and no way near a sub 3:15 attempt. I am gutted after the year starting so well and jogging a 1:36 half in January. I cant decide whether to just pootle round London for the crack although I have done that a lot of times so thinking of deferring instead as just not enough recovery time between now and then and setting my stall out for Berlin.

Sorry to hear that Jovi. You're experienced enough to make the right decision about London as a LSR or not.
Hi BR.
Happy to include anyone who contributes to the thread on the sidebar, no rules about that. Just some folk might prefer not, that's a personal choice. I'll let them tell me.

I was only joking about your strict criteria Paul, honest!
Sorry to hear your injury not clearing up Jovi. Annoying when in good shape to have to can a marathon, but rest up to race another day, either defer or just jog it (I'm not very good at just "jogging" a marathon - still find it hard going! But I'm sure you'll make right choice.)
G'luck. G

Baz - Given the distances and speeds I target, think it pretty much needs to be gone to be manageable.
I have an MRI in a couple of weeks to ensure that rehab is all it needs.

Thanks everyone. I'm going to leave it until the last minute to decide so may even not defer until the Expo.

sorry Jovi, you've had some serious ups and downs along the way. Like G, I have tried to run easy marathons in the past and realized that they're not easy at all, even if you try and run them a bit slower than you might be able to. Getting ready for Berlin might be the correct option.
I'll be at VLM of course. Training has been a bit yo-yo in all honesty - in the past I can hardly remember missing a session but this time around there have been a few that haven't gone to plan / completion. It's perhaps a result of approach, March has been all about some mad cramming more than anything else. Lark is right, I do get days where I think I might be in PB shape but equally there others where I think about trying to secure a GFA. Ultimately, I think it'll boil down to the weather. If it's a good day I might think about going through halfway in around 87 and see where I go from there. That doesn't mean I think I can run 2:54 (2:55 - 2:56, maybe) more that I really think that the downhill nature of the opening miles at London lends itself to getting a bit ahead of schedule.
One thing that I will admit is that my bad run at Snowdonia has impacted my confidence over the mara distance. Daft I know as I didn't train properly for that event, raced it (very) poorly, I've run 3*hm pbs in the interim, and the mara-paced sessions are coming out just fine. Amazing what goes on in the head of mine though!

I’m also down for London. Will reserve judgement on pace target until after Sunday’s Alloa half!

I'm racing Yeovil Half this weekend which help me determine target time for my marathon on 5th May (North Dorset Village Marathon). Hoping to be able to hit about 1:25 for the half.....

Good luck at Alloa Rossco. Hope weather stays like this for it, as not bad at mo. What time are you going for? It's a good course for a PB. G
