I quite like Kinvaras but the uppers were really flimsy on the last set I got.
Currently to heavy for racers anyway

I’m running in Clayton 2s - 235g.
Did my last 12miler today. Decided to run around 80% MHR and ended up running an average of 4:49/km (7:45/ml). It felt really good actually. That’s basically my Marathon PB pace. Still leaves me with lots of questions. I reckon with another week of taper I can go faster but how fast do I go out?

CW - I think you should be able to run at an average HR quite a bit higher over the marathon. Do you know how your HR trends with pace? What were your stats for the MP runs you did in the rest of the training block?

I guess the best run to look at is Maidenhead Half which was at 3:12 MP. This was average 86% MHR, max 91%. It was the end of a 50mile week. It felt really hard! Maybe go out and keep below 85% for the first half?

CW that seems like a reasonable strategy following HR although I find that my race HR is 5-10 beats per minute higher than it would be for the same effort and pace in training, even early on in the race. Must be race day adrenaline adding a few extra beats!
I don't actually look at heart rate at all during the race. I prefer to run to feel/effort and pace.
Good times Gus and Steve

CW - I agree with Pete, there are lots of factors that can influence HR on the day. I only tried it once, it ruined my race. Others do it to good effect though - I think Clare is an exponent.
Larks, do you also cook on a spit over an open fire? You could always buy the kitchen some electronic scales and claim this 'technology' as solely yours!

lol Larks, that's exactly what I did. and I got caught. ' What you doing?' asks Mrs Axe.
'Checking the weight of my shoes.' I reply as iof its a perfectly normally think to do.
CW, I am with others. Hr is data to be reviewed after the event and not during. FWIW I usually see an average across a marathon of the high 80% max and sometimes into the 90s.
