Golf and cricket (batting), when played well, are supposed to be 'top hand' dominant. So there's a good case could be made for doing both the 'wrong' way around. But once you start doing it one way as a kid, it becomes hard to re-learn the other way around.

Maybe you were just super relaxed while on holiday Bazo and hence HR lower? Seriously though, sounds like elevated HR might be just stress / lack of good quality sleep etc. back at home and work? Could be virus of course.
I don't doubt that you've given your all in all your races Bazo. I was rather doubting myself somewhat - I know I think I'm doing all I can while I'm doing it, but I see other folk who look in a much worse way than me either during or after, and just wonder if I'm not pushing myself. I think I am!
Don't write off the autumn marathon yet. Keep some decent last mileage, a few sharpener sessions / 5K / 10K races (do you fancy Kirknewton 10K 7pm tomorrow night? Entries on the night 8 quid. I can give you a lift from Gyle area and back.) G

If you're that badly prepped Baz you could end up pacing me to 3:14:59
Think I'm creeping up in my aspirations with a plan as of today to follow the 3:15 pacers all the way around having reflected on Sunday's run. It's a completely arbitrary target in so many ways, but the GFA badge is attached to it so why not. Having said that (!), just looked at the two pacers they've lined up and one is a triathlete and the other a cyclist! If I'm going to spend over 3 hours in their company I'd need to trust their running credentials!

LOL HG, I suspect you are giving your all. Those that look worse are people like me who have been ambitious (over) and blown up.
I remember when I ran my PB and just after 26 miles I was shocked to be passing BazP who should have been finished and celebrating a PB and he looked to be broken.

My first "raced" marathon larks (as in, not my first, first one, where I ambled round chatting to club mates and didn't know if 3, 4 or 5 hours was a good time!) I was going for 3:20 3 months out, then during training (and chatting to this lot!) I was going for 3:15. Come race day I was super confident and secretly targeting 3:10 inside. I managed 3:12:18 but was very, very hard going at the end, even having started reasonably steady. Maybe there's no such thing as an easy marathon.
10K tomorrow night Bazo?

Bazo - how much alcohol do you consume on holiday compared to how much back home? I have more on holiday (not loads more, but enough to make a difference) and I'm sure that impacts my stats when I'm back.

Just did 8miles with 5x 800m@VO2 Max. Thought it a weird session and it was hideously difficult but I kind of liked it as it shows I can still run fast (ish). Did the 800s in 3:05, 2:59, 3:02, 3:06 and 3:03

I just thought running a VO2 Max session in the middle of 8 miles was odd. It's the first time I've done it. All the speed sessions before have been Lactate Threshold pace.

That's not how I read P&D intervals. Like advice to larks before, the session is 5 x 800m at 5K pace (i.e. VO2Max, rather than LT pace), with 90-120s (complete / decent) rests. The "8 miles" is just "add a bit on before and after and call it a warm up and cool down)? So it's a "pure intervals" session, in my book? If you did it running continuously, with jog or run recoveries, then it's more of an endurance session than a speed session. And also, if so, double well done on your pace! G
