Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Well think it's time I got an asterisk beside my name over there =====> After today's 1:35:54 half there's no way I'm doing sub 3:15 in a few weeks, will be struggling to break 3:30 I think

Felt great in first couple of miles, then legs had nothing in them after just 4 miles. Kept each mile under 8min/mile, just....

Absolutely shocking run, and a complete waste of 250 miles worth of diesel. No excuse, easy run Thursday, day off yesterday. Heart rate was never below 170 except first mile.

10k next weekend, any thoughts of sub 40 already well and truly gone, sub 42 maybe........

Maybe I need to splurge £200 on a pair of wonder shoes.............. ;-)

I did my slowest parkrun in yonks, a slow and muddy course but not 21:20 slow and muddy! Put in a solid effort too, wasn't taking it easy. Summer of fun has well and truly taken its toll (on running legs - cycling still going ok).

I was relieved to be able to cruise around with my youngest at parkrun today in about 27 mins as part of 5m of recovery, so no parkrun woes for me. Heading out for what looks like being 21 miles now that I've measured it on the Chester marathon course tomorrow morning. Just tossing up whether to take any water with me or not. Probably should I suppose.

There has to be something going on behind the scenes there Gus. High HR suggests a lurking illness perhaps? That's not you.

That said, everyone needs the shoes....

Buy some Hoka Clifton v4's, K5 Gus, they are awesome shoes. Heavily cushioned but nearly lighter than air :)

I had the original Cliftons which were about 220g, each version has got heavier, the v4 are I think about 290g, not such a light shoe anymore :-(

Gus, you know Hoka's are a wonder shoe, No need to splash £200. On the matter of heart rate Gus, >170bpm for 12 miles, for a M50 is quite impressive imo.

Gus - sorry that went badly. You've very few HR numbers in your log to compare that with, but if it really was unusually high then there's probably something else going on too. Don't get too bothered about it just yet. You might find you're ill this week, and recovered by next week.

I have a pair of Hoka's - I was donated an unwanted pair won by James74. I can't say that I see what the all fuss is about now (in either direction). They're not as clown-shoey or clompy as I expected. But I don't like them particularly for different reasons - the insoles move about all over the place (I've had to swap them out for a pair from some retired shoes). The sole is wearing quite quickly after only just over 100m. The uppers are quite 'hard' (as in no padding or soft material anywhere).

First 20m of the summer yesterday, recovery 5m this morning. Golf later.
