I`m with JDA on this. That said, I love ridiculous acronyms as much as the next guy, and probably a lot more...the next guy actually believes they exist.

I disregard most of what Tom Williams ever says as it's mostly tosh and made up on the spot depending on what his view on that given day is.

I've stopped listening to MT because of the shit he keeps spurting. Most of what he and Martin Yelling talk about now is drivel as it's been years since they've had anything relevant to say. Someone who thinks that most top level athletes are dopers can't be taken seriously, he takes the ultra-cynical view in an attempt to sound important. Twat.

I still listen every week. I cringe at a lot of what is said and the poor interviewing technique but do pick up some snippets. I like yelling better though.

The interview with Pete Pfitzinger from a few years ago is a must listen, an education for marathon runners.

Haven't listened to marathon talk in forever , get more than enough waffle on this thread ;-)

Attempting to race a marathon on water, why ? Train like that sure but take advantage of everything you can if you are trying for a PB/time

I don't think he was particularly trying to run just off water to be all cocky and ballsy, it came across that he wanted to try a different overall diet and his absence of need for fuel or hydration during a run was just a consequence of the new approach (and matched the theory of the diet too that it prompted a fat adaption in terms of energy use). Personally I couldn't even experiment with it as I couldn't get the whole family to move to low carb high fat so I wouldn't even consider it!

Take all the help you can get in my book. I don't know if I need gels but I can stomach them so why wouldn't I take them? I can't stomach much lucozade but often take some late in a race. Makes me feel bad after but who cares?

Daz - I went to Colby parkrun this morning. I kinda took your advice and started a few rows back and took it easy the 1st lap or so. Moved through later on to finish 4th but my 19:50 was very modest. 18:55 was a very good time on that course. I saw that someone ran 16:xx round there a few weeks ago. Wow! There were a few club vests posing around at the start. Muppets, it was nice to beat most of them.

WW - Just see your run on Strava. The course record got broke last week when I was there. Nice little course but you done the right thing not racing although 19:50 is still going some!!
