Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

With typical timing I appear to have been hit by some sort of chest bug, the last 2 nights I have been awake trying my best to breathe (and frightening the life out of my OH who is worried I am going to stop breathing!!).

I am not an asthma sufferer (tho' one of my kids is) but about 12 years ago I went through a similar thing and had an inhaler for a while. Result means I have not done anything since a few miles on Monday, I am really am going to have a quiet taper period as the mara is now only 10 days away. May be at the docs today or tomorrow if doesn't lift as there would be no way I could run trying to constantly catch my breath.

Good health and running to evryone - at least my legs will be fresh :)

Back from my hols in Italy. One week in which I managed one poxy 10K run! I was planning to run a lot but the Amalfi Coast and Rome must be two of the most impossible places to run. Luckily they are two of the best places for a holiday :-)

That is the bright side. Once I'd come to terms with the fact that I wasn't going to be able run, it was actually good fun. I could do the old things like have a few beers whenever I wanted without worrying about running later or the next morning. It made me realise quite how much running has come to be an obsessive element in my life and how often it dictates my plans/what I do.

Hi Guys
Hey - Thanks for all the messages on here :)
Berlin was just fantastic... and I had a corker of a race - Report is on my blog if you want a little read:)

Woffy - You could not run at all between now and your race, and your taper will be perfect - Get yourself well mate, and don't do anything silly to sabotage you chances of a good run.

daviec - keep disciplined with that taper (although a short sharpener is good for the head!!!!) :)

JB - You are looking SO strong :) I'm having a sly bet with myself about the time that you'll do ;) - and I really can't wait to read your report post race!!

Jigs - enjoy the taper :)

I'm fully tapered now. Resting today and tomorrow, and just a short jog on Saturday when I get to Inverness. I'm as ready as I'll ever be.

Good luck to everyone else racing soon :)

Woffy - hope chest thing soon clears - perhaps a few days enforced rest would be for the best in any case?

eL Bee! - LOL - thanks for that - I'm feeling more confident now about Snowdonia - I know that if I run my own race (race plan set in my mind - effort/HR levels on hills and flat/descents, taking gels etc) that I should go sub 3h15 and, if things go really well, I could get close to 3hrs (only 10 were sub 3hr last year, when the weather was ideal for the race)
