Back under 90 for the first time in a while with 1:28:58 at Village Bakery Wrexham HM. Thought I was on for about 30-40s better using the Peters Pacing app on Garmin until the 13m marker appeared about 0.25m from the finish :-(

Still, decent day out in good conditions and better than I'd feared after a patchy start to the year.

Thanks all. I manually hit the lap button at each marker, can you spot where they were "a bit wrong" :-) (I completely missed mile 5!)

-> 1) 1.05mi - 7:02(6:43/mi)
2) 0.93mi - 6:03(6:32/mi)
3) 1.03mi - 6:54(6:44/mi)
4) 0.97mi - 6:29(6:41/mi)
5) 2.01mi - 13:40(6:48/mi)
6) 1.04mi - 7:04(6:48/mi)
7) 1mi - 6:37(6:37/mi)
8) 0.97mi - 6:31(6:42/mi)
-> 9) 1.17mi - 7:57(6:49/mi)
10) 0.81mi - 5:40(7:00/mi)
11) 0.99mi - 6:50(6:53/mi)
12) 1mi - 6:45(6:46/mi)
-> 13) 0.23mi - 1:27(6:16/mi)

Good job I wasn't really relying on them!

Well done larkim

I am sure you have already noticed the apparent errors in the positioning of the 10 and 11 mile markers (your "9)" and "10)" splits) essentially cancel each other. In fact a bit of mental arithmetic suggests the 13 mile marker is within less than 0.05mi of the correct position, so all of the error is the distance from the final mile marker to the finish. And it looks like you nailed that last bit with a decent sprint :-)

Oh yes, absolutely. Still doesn't help when the watch says 'you just did an 8min mile". But yes, each one that was wrong gets compensated for typically at the next one, so any uncertainty only lasts for about a mile. Plus other info (e.g. the group I was running with) helps to be really clear about what the reality is.

The biggest annoyance tbh was that the 13m one was wrong just at a time when you're looking for certainty. And it does sort of imply that all other mile markers were drifting early a little to enable mile 12-13 to look accurate, but actually leaves 0.2m to run!

(Minor gripe really, I didn't have any real confusion other than thinking I was on for a slightly faster time, and I couldn't have really gone any quicker)
