Dashing FRU the snow (KeepTheFaith)
Happy new streaky year everyone Big Al majorly impressive! Incredible scores on those doors!!! Jenni-far-far it’s a right rough deal when a streak ends but here’s to quick recovery and starting over over Loving the delurk and 4 years is impressive! I’m steady as I go. My original aim on this not a streak was to get the habbit built…. The streak cannot die is the new mantra. I’ve a lot to do this year but that’s one little light that can stay lit even if I am right at the bottom of the mileage ladder One run at a time. Always inspired by you all |

Providing I don't miss a run Saturday I will equal my best ever streak (294) Just a mile today as tough week at work. I'm exhausted |

Here's a thing. I don't think Streaking really contributes to overall running fitness, especially lots of saver efforts. However, with a combination of work load, injury, ice and now illness, I would have hardly run at all over the last 4-5 months. As it is, I have run every day. Because of this, people assume I must be superfit, but I'm not (or at least don't feel it!) I feel about as fit as if I'd only run a few times during the same time frame. I am certainly not as fit as if I had trained consistently for that period of time. On the flip side of that, I also don't belive that a gentle 14m/m shuffle to get some fresh air while ill or injured is greatly detrimental either. Discuss. |

I agree cackleberry I run every day, Dec I decided to try and stick to a 5k a day average and again this month but I don’t feel as fit as when I had higher mileage, I don’t feel like I could run another half marathon, I feel tired and sluggish most of the time! I do push myself to keep going even after a 12 hour shift at 6am though because I want to!

I think that overall it's beneficial. I started streaking because I had a bad habit of getting into a 'winter running slump' once the race season was over, where I wouldn't run at all for a month or two. A run streak means you don't do that! I've been on the streak for just over five years and during that time I've had periods where I was just doing one-mile daily savers for weeks on end and periods where I was doing 50-60 mile weeks. I'm a much more consistent runner now and I don't think I'd end up in a 'winter running slump' these days, but I like keeping the streak as prevention against the risk of it! |

^^ That's my motivation for the streak...just to keep running, rather than say I don't feel like running and just be lazy if the weather is lousy or too cold.
