Yes, I work 11 (or sometimes 12 hour shifts) and go out for a run before I go to bed! I used to walk the dog and sleep then go for a run when I get up but I have found itโs better this way!

hi streakers my streak is also 1 mile minimum but I like to do most runs of 3 miles plus, also most of my running is run/walk but that's what suits these days so I'm happy with that sorry youre not enjoying running Vixx, I would normally say have a break from it, but with such a long streak that 1 mile a day is worth keeping and I do hope you get your mojo back well I had to break my latest streak I think it was about 9 months, but I had a horrible stomach bug and there was no chance. I'm ok with it, but straight back to running daily - its just what I do ![]() |

Oddly, with a long streak going, I have no compunction about taking a short day if I need some extra recovery: today was only 2 km because my left hip was hurting from a fracture thirty years ago, and my right knee was clicking from a kneecap fracture from Mount Blanc in the 2016. I used to be 5 km minimum and keep an average above 10 km, but I'm more relaxed about it now. Could be age too ๐

I'm with you on run/walks Jenni- far- far, no choice for me currently and it might not change. Sometimes the unexpected might make it impossible to maintain a streak, your stomach bug as an example. Wise decisions Nord Runner which have clearly paid off positively throughout your fabulous streak. I'm amazed at how you do so much when you work such long hours jelly! |

hi all, checking in as I approach 2000 days this month! jenni - sorry to hear your streak is broken, but also glad you're straight back on it. Likewise, glad to hear jelly can still bounce ![]() Vixx - I know how you feel. I think I am coming out of a slump, mojo has been broken for months just can't get going. The streak and running in general has felt like a complete chore. However, I have kept at it one mile at a time and now, for the first time in ages I feel excited about running again! I've entered a couple of events for next year that are big enough to need proper training. My only advice is don't sweat it too much. You must have a favourite route or point of interest nearby to visit? Use that. Do chores on foot if possible. Schedule an event, but only if you enjoy racing, no point adding to the stress! Do you enjoy social running? If so, book a buddy to go with. You know all this ![]() |

Thanks Jenni and cackleberry. I have decided to try to do a minimum of 1hr of activity per day in October, as I notice that my ass and a cushion are more acquianted than they should be now that I do more online work than hands-on. Whether that is cardio, or a mix of cardio and weights, I don't mind - I just need to get more activity. I'm quite frightened to go out running for some reason, and I tend to run on a treadmill (which is one reason I am bored),but I don't know why exactly. It might be because I stop where I start (not that you don't when you go outside) and I can just get straight back to work if I need to - or I can do short bits here and there in-between working. I was considering getting some new trail trainers so that I could go out on the trails near to where I am in Manchester (Trans Pennine Trail) and in Halesowen (Clent Hills), but we'll see. |

I would highly recommend going for a run outside. Maybe do your main run on the treadmill, but also do 2 mins outside or something. Or, go for a walk on the trails but do a little jog while no-one is looking ![]() I totally get the convenience of using a treadmill in between work sections, I also get being nervous of going outside. Maybe not the same thing, but having recently moved house from basically a field to an estate in a town, it feels weird going out at night. I used to think nothing of going for a run at 10-11 o'clock at night. Now, that feels dangerous. (It's not, my town is small and the estate isn't bad, I'm just a country bumpkin who is not very street-wise!) |

(Sorry Vixx. Nothing like a bit of unsolicited counselling from a stranger on the internet! I didn't mean to teach you to suck eggs.)
