Sigh
That's a good point, bigleggy. I've only read mine on a b&w Kindle device.

Result incoming. I reported a while back an HMRC demand I had for over £1k. This related to an error I made in my self assessment back in 2017 where I was sent £900 in relation to tax relief on pension payments which I wasn’t due as these were salary sacrifice payments. The issue caused by the nature of the self assessment form having been changed from the year before. At the time I wrote back to say I wasn’t due the money, hadn’t cashed the cheque and asked what to do. No reply. Then in the summer of this year I had a demand for £1100 and interest was accruing. I wrote back and included a copy of my 2017 letter and the uncashed cheque. I tried to phone a few times but there is no chance of getting through. Periodic checks online showed the interest still racking up. Today I checked and the balance is now shown as £0.00. I assume they have now dealt with my letter from august and sorted the mess out. Yay. No letter to confirm that though. I had wondered what would happen if I retired and this wasn’t sorted and would they somehow take the money that I didn’t owe. That problem now resolved. Good old HMRC. |

Merry Christmas and Happy NewG(rrr)
HMRC tax calcs usually come out in the wash over a few years. Never had one last 6 years like that though Bazo. Glad it's resolved. V jealous of all you retirees reading, tidying all sounds attractive. Just another couple years! Just another couple years. Repeat. Repeat. G |

Yes no books = nothing to do zoom calls in front of to try and pretend you’re intelligent/well read etc.

I do zoom in front of a giant (inherited) cheese plant. Came with the house and will stay with it! I don't read dead tree books, basically ever. That primitive format doesn't have a search function or hyperlinks (though to be fair neither do scanned pdfs quite a lot of the time). |

Ah but the ability to skim a book and find a part when you don’t know the search terms is far superior. I prefer paper charts in long distance planning to digital for the same reason.
