Mr Pix needs to focus on the opportunities and things - especially new things that this new phase of life can bring him, live for today and get out there and live every day to the max.
I've seen many people drift into nothingness, a sort of mind numbing routine that is just existing rather than living when retiring - including some I thought were dynamic and wouldn't end up like that in their working lives.

I think when you've handed your notice in some people reveal their true colours...
Thats exactly what happened to me and therefore the day I walked out of the door I never looked back. Two years later haven't spoken to old boss once - after 26 years of working there. Sad but as you say - true feelings shown

TRO I think this is why his mum was against him retiring as I suspect his days will be sport, bit of housework, bit of gardening repeat whereas I see all sorts of fitness stuff and reading and some gardening (more veg growing?) so not much more excitement but more active!

Wow. Super fast service. Thanks Fetch. I’ll repost that again later when I’m not working and can concentrate properly.

That's a bit worrying Pix, he's way too young for his world to shrink into something that small, repetitive and unstimulating. Hopefully something will capture his interest and reignite some zest......

sport is his passion TRO he loves the horse racing and that was his routine when he took those 4 months off before I've already told him he will need to do some exercise even if it's a walk as house work and a bit of gardening every now and then won't be enough Maybe he could take up golf again - he used to play and we have been a few times together. Not sure if he would go alone mind but it's a thought

In other news one of my retirement plans is starting to get underway.....house valued and will be on the market next week. Meanwhile search for the 'forever' home well underway, viewing 5 Barn conversions on Thursday/Friday. Whoop!

That's a shame, Pix. I'm loving the opportunity that early retirement has given me. Hopefully he'll find something that stimulates him.

it's odd I was fully expecting him to be excited - he started his personal pension with a goal of retiring at 50 so it's always been a goal to retire early and now it's scary I guess

Pix - maybe Mr Pix is just having a wobble, workmates asking him what he's going to do with all that time etc.
He'll be busy making his own sausages and burgers 😉
Hope it's good news for you this afternoon 🤞
