Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

I never got an FA to check my assumptions before I resigned. Maybe I should have. Lol. It looks like we have enough though. And worst case scenario, with no children, we could equity release if we don’t downsize.

Sigh. My wife left a job and was paid for three months after leaving. She flagged it immediately and we put the money aside. It took three months for them to stop paying and ask for the money back.

This caused issues with tax overpayments that took a while to unravel.

Pension payments were also made but no attempt was made to recover those.

Hopefully they'll sort mine straight away, I'll then ask for the P45 they should have already issued, otherwise I'll end up with an inaccurate P60 next year and by then they'll have forgotten about this latest balls up.

After taking redundancy in 2020, then being asked to go back as a contractor for 6 months in February, my contract has been extended to the end of the year, but I’m dropping it down to a three day week. This is my first long weekend and it’s lovely 😆

Sigh - same thing happened to me in that I got paid the month after I retired. I told HR and they said sorry our mistake, keep the payment and we'll assume you retired a bit later that you did!
Some months later I was speaking to someone who retired on the same day as me who said she was also paid extra. She kept quiet about it and then the company came along a few days later and asked for it to be repaid!

To clarify, she did work for the same company as me.

Well my (now-ex) boss is also a board director and company secretary, so if she can't get HR to sort this out, no-one can!
