My self seeded flowers did the best last year, so I’m tempted to sit back and let nature do its stuff. But what if the birds ate all the seeds!

Total coincidence but this morning I was literally just telling MrsC about this as we discussed projects and activities we might give our Scouts to do over the summer. I was away to fmail you to see what the rules were!

Hurrah :-) I bought seeds on Thursday in Lidl - 20p! Five packs for a paahnd. It's a sunny day, I might get planting.

Trin, do you have a Lidl nearby? If you are out for groceries, perfectly reasonable to pick up whatever else is in store?

I have been thinking of this recently but don't know when I'll be able to start. I do know that I've still got some of the seeds from last year kicking about somewhere. I just have to get home sometime to find them. :(

Dvorak, we do have a Lidl, but they don't seem to stock all the same products as in the UK. I'll have a proper look next time we need to shop

We need to start a seed bank. On the other hand I don’t know if it would be legal to post seeds abroad.

OK - this years Competition.

The Roolz

1. Begins when you can
2. Ends September 4th
3. Biggest one wins

4. Disasters are to be posted so we can all laugh/commiserate/laugh at them

5. All forms of growing aids are allowed. There's no drug testing in this competition so if you find the Lance Armstrong of Sunflowers - grow it and win !

6. Bigleggy always wins ;-)
7. As the national flower of Ukraine is the Sunflower, the Russian Giant variety is banned.
