*chuckles* at D2! I'm just happy to have kept mine alive two years in a row! Next year must do better...goes off to ask neighbour for tips on how to grow GIGANTIC sunflowers! ;)

Despite rule 6, I will accept my defeat with good grace ;-) and as per previous years have made my donation to 'Team Ella'. A former work colleagues charity he set up after his daughter was still born.

They raise money primarily through sponsored events , mainly running. They do this as 'The Sunflower Army', which is just a total coincidence. I never started growing sunflowers with this charity in mind. I just like em and get a kick out of the fact you all seem to as well. So thanks for all taking part. See you all again next season :-)

With a prod from Dvorak (thanks), I think its time for this years competition to kick off

Owing to the circumstances we all find ouselves in there will be no start date. Start if and when you can. A great social distancing exercise I think, get out in the garden and get some seed planting done.

Let's go !!!!!

Right......where am I going to get my seeds from :-/

End date : First Friday in September.

Rules: There are no rules. From soil to top of plant wins.

Need to get some new seeds for this year...mine are a couple of years old now. Hubby will even let me plant them into the ground here...! :)

All my seeds got binned when we had builders here earlier in the year. Devastated :-)

OK - this years Competition.

The Roolz

1. Begins when you can
2. Ends September 4th
3. Biggest one wins

4. Disasters are to be posted so we can all laugh/commiserate/laugh at them

5. All forms of growing aids are allowed. There's no drug testing in this competition so if you find the Lance Armstrong of Sunflowers - grow it and win !

6. Bigleggy always wins ;-)
7. As the national flower of Ukraine is the Sunflower, the Russian Giant variety is banned.
