It's been years since I've grown anything more complex than alfalfa sprouts from seeds and I've enjoyed the experience. Thank you all for your company My next task is to move the remaining pots of withering sunflowers round the back of the house where the birds feed.

Despite that, this year has undoubtedly been my most successful for sunflowers. One thing though - my small supposed multi-headed sunflowers have all turned out as medium single-headed sunflowers.

OK - this years Competition.

4. Disasters are to be posted so we can all laugh/commiserate/laugh at them

5. All forms of growing aids are allowed. There's no drug testing in this competition so if you find the Lance Armstrong of Sunflowers - grow it and win !

6. Bigleggy always wins ;-)

7. As the national flower of Ukraine is the Sunflower, the Russian Giant variety is banned.
