I think we might be doomed. Plastic instead of grass in front gardens in a local housing estate. Is this a thing now? I know I'm not the best but really?! (Facepalm)

Oddly, it's not even particularly low maintenance if you want to keep it looking nice. I don't know why people do it either.

Assume it’s just a cheap and quick option for selling the houses. Agree it’s horrid though.

It’s awful and should be banned, it would put me off buying a property as I would have to get rid of it, and that’s a whole new problem.

My neighbour has it. He has a tiny patch of what was grass. I would guess less than ten mins to cut it.

To be fair I spend a fortune on lawn maintenance and had to get professionals in to sort it out.

Artificial grass is so bad. My work colleague put it at the side of their house. She's a keen golfer and made it a putting green.

Our lovely but fanatically gleaming neighbours have a small patch of artificial grass. They lift it and either clean it or replace it every year.

We're full on feral meadow.

I detest it and agree with Mrs Jigs (Luverlylegs) it should be banned.

We inherited two small patches of lawn, I’ve converted one to a wildflower meadow which I’m inordinately proud of, it’s really a lovely feature of the garden with dozens of different species. The other patch is still just mediocre lawn and takes a lot more time and effort.

Agree JDA - have done the same. Love the wildflower meadow. It is so fun to watch the different bugs come and go.

Anyway it is No Mow May. See if you can all be a little wild ;)

About This Thread

Maintained by HappyG(rrr)
Hi
I've seen environment (whether emissions, power, climate change, access to countryside, whatever you think of as "environment") discussed in various threads: Politics (obviously), the Electric Car thread fetcheveryone.com/forum/electric-car-anyone-61481/ , run free's excellent "Competitive Running and Keeping The Environment Clean" fetcheveryone.com/forum/running-competitively-keeping-our-environment-clean-60907/ my own Greta Thunberg thread fetcheveryone.com/forum/greta-thunberg---jfk-for-the-climate-generation-61044/ etc. but I haven't seen a general one.

So here it is. For those interested in the science, the politics, the action for (and I'll state that for me, this is mostly pro-environment, anti-emissions, anti-pollution etc.) and the hope for the future of our planet.
