Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Not really a fan of the 5:2 -not that way anyway.

Fasting is OK but you still need to get your micro / macro nutirnets so you need to be very well thought about what you eat on rest days where you'll be eating, most likely, at BMR. Training days you can eat more. The muscular you are the easier it is to do because your BMR will be higher.

Good starting points to read in my opinion are

Braf Pillion Eat Stop Eat - book + lots of videos on youtube

leangains martin berkhan
leangains.com

They are starting points - do your homework . and nig AND - you can't train hard when fasting or calorie restricting!!

Weight loss yes - big perfomrnance gains, no

Kieran thank you for your input on the 5:2. LM wow that is high. Mileage there! I'm just getting back invite after having my baby 11 weeks ago, I will see how it goes for a few weeks, because you Bangalore your fast days I'll just do them on my rest days.

Given the type of training that I'm doing I'm looking more at the ability to just keep moving at a steady pace as opposed to speed work. To do this more effectively I need to shift at least a stone and lower my body fat count.

Plus I see this as an opportunity to experiment which feeds my scientific mind for a mont at least :-)

Goodluck

Ideal. Well I haven't felt as hungry as I thought I would have today which is good but I'm still trying to eat 1800 calories at least . Fast day tomorrow instead of Sunday now because I'll be in the house most of Sunday which will be hard for me not to pick.

Weight myself this morning :
13.8 st
27.6% fat
25.3 BMI
Height wise I'm 6ft 1
Naming today as a (2) day as the mileage is going to rise next week after a slow down week of 41 miles.

Good luck for December (I get the feeling we are going to need it!!) :-)

5 days of 'normal' eating and 2 days eating 600 calories (men), 500 calories (women).

Fast days are best not done on consecutive days, unless you have amazing willpower.
