My 'Congratulations - you're free to plan something else in April 2025' email has just landed

OK - that's not quite what the message says but it is the spin I'm putting on it ;)

I haven’t entered this year, first time for ages, but I’m still excited to see which Fetchies win! I’ll be popping in and out of here all day.

Wonder if the timing will be same as last year - I got my email 16:37, but not sure if there was any rhyme or reason to why I was late in the day.

I see they've also changed the GFA application window from July to October. Somewhat frustrating in terms of training etc.

Someone I know has received a 'Sorry...' but I'm still waiting. Their surname begins with B, if there's any chance the notifications are coming out in alphabetical order!?

Just received my not this time email. Will be looking for a charity place instead as I intend on it being my last marathon.

WW (surname W) has had his rejection. I’m still waiting. He entered the ballot a few days earlier than I did . . .

I'm OK with this, because it's not as if we'd have known whether we actually had a place until after the deadline for running a GFA time anyway. It would have been helpful if they'd announced the tightening up of the GFA requirements earlier than they did. There will be people who ran what they thought would be good enough times to apply for a GFA place between Oct 2023 and April 2024 only to find that they weren't fast enough after all, and who now have to decide whether to let it go or run another marathon when they might not have chosen to do so otherwise.

I have had my "Not this time. Or any time. We just don't like you" email.

OK. I'll just have to return to my Plan A of trimming 55 minutes off my PB.
