Help
Trying to plan after run meet ups. What time do the masses actually start? Can't seem to find it.

Individual masses will be informed of their start times closer to the event.

Nope, though if the after run meet up is very time sensitive it's probably better to plan to be at the repatriation area.

We are trying to plan which train mini Nico will get back to Loughborough. We are staying down Sunday night. Don't want it to be a mad panic after finishing

It's a staggered start and there's a couple of hours between the first and the last waves to go off. And then it's mayhem getting away from the finish and on to public transport. I'd advise leaving as much time as you reasonably can. Which still isn't helpful.

To give you an idea I was in the last wave from my start and started at 11:23

In previous years the waves have been organised roughly in predicted time order with the fastest (sub 3 hour) runners setting off at 10am and then a wave every few minutes until around 11:30am. So if you can remember what time you put down, you can work out roughly when you'll be starting (assuming they do it the same this time!).
It's also worth repeating what V'rap said - it can be pretty chaotic around the finish for many hours during and after the race and everything takes a lot longer than you think! Go for the latest train you can get away with for mini-Nico would be my suggestion.

I'm likely to run the marathon with a finishing time of about 5 hours (hopefully something under!). Should I be looking to wear racing shoes (mizuno waveriders for me) or something more cushioned? (mizuno ultima). I would regard myself as an experienced runner.

What shoes do you feel fatigue your legs less badly? Go with those!
I ran last year's in some adidas adios 4 which on the one hand were (before supershoes) the world record shoe, but on the other hand I didn't feel would entirely look after my legs. In the end I think they did give me perhaps a small performance boost as the time I hit was at the top end of what I expected that day, but in comparison with other marathons where I'd not worn the "racing shoe" my legs were mashed!! I'll be back in more comfortably shoes this April!
