Normally they're a little unsure of themselves to start with, and then become star students because they're properly engaged with the content. You might be able to catch them after timetabled events. We can actually look up everyone's timetables, and go and find them after a lecture (or hang around outside their office. Do they have advertised office hours you can drop in for, or do they want you to make an appointment?
