Week 1 of GCSEs survived! Only 1 seizure (on the first day) and the rest seem to have gone well. A bit like Dipps’ daughter, D1 said that not having to socialise and knowing exactly what is going to happen definitely makes the day easier.

Monday is a double exam day so there will be some down time required between them but if we can continue as we started we’ll be very happy!

That's good. Mixed bag here. New job has rather taken over life (her new job, not mine).

Excellent news PH. Hope that turns out a good thing Linds, i think new patterns are especially tiring before they bed in. Teen at end of week is a different beast - the mental weight of having a week to survive makes her crash mon - wed but be noticeably better by thur.

To lighten the tone Cedd didn't put his hockey kit away as asked so we have been moving it around and finally displayed it in a little tree in the garden (in the sunshine, carefully, no harm done). Apparently this is not funny. Hockey pad hunt is NOT a game like easter egg hunts and he is NOT PLAYING. I can't stop giggling. Which is apparently not good parenting either. I've informed him he can opt for the straight bollocking and training ban instead of humour next time. That choice was also unacceptable. He has retreated to his room and is performance homeworking on a science learning platform.

When we are all calmer there will be words about expectations....

Teen was asked to move something and put it carefully in middle of kitchen floor. That was quite funny, we weren’t specific enough about the destination. She was delighted with herself

Yeah we usually muck about and do good humoured feedback. Just this time it didn't land well.

Last time he was that grumpy with us he emerged a couple of hours later to say "sorry I was an utter knobhead". He's a good kid really.

I suspect he's working up to tell me he's feeling pressured at school or something. I know one of his mates has decided he's too cool for the group they hang out with but I thought he was okish with that.

The ability of teens to be both puckish and pompous is one of their most endearing qualities, I think. Especially as you can rarely predict which one you’re going to get 😁

It's like toddlerhood all over again. The only thing is having the kids later means they're doing puberty while I'm doing menopause. It's all a bit irrational at times.

I do feel teenagers and menopause is an unfortunate combination
