Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Straight As for my oldest today. He needed that for York (to do law), and he's got accepted, so delighted for him, but sad for anybody whose children didn't get the results they needed. It hasn't been fair.

N is happy but "bemused" today, it has been a lottery, he has deserved his marks, but so have plenty of others that didn't get them. I am pleased we stuck with our local school (which had a bad reputation when we first moved here), they've turned it around and the head said very few people got downgraded, but that the rest of Cornwall have not fared as well.

I think schools aren’t clear on whether their mocks will be counted or not, it was all very last minute and they won’t want to promise appeals they can’t deliver. Sounds hopeful though Katie

Ds1 was lucky I think in that he went to a huge 6th form college which had large numbers and lots of data points, means they would be more likely to justify their grades. Ds1 said his friends who were disappointed probably wouldn’t have done better with real exams. Smaller 6th forms I think would have more issues...

A*, A*, A, B here. In at Manchester University for Neuroscience. Originally told he had an A for Maths but his teacher just emailed to say it was an error should be A*!! He is pretty thrilled overall. Most of his friends are in at their first choice Unis. Proud Mum, we need to get him some stuff now to take with him.
