Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

That’s great that he got a deferred offer Stu! Not great on the D, was his mock better than that? A definite uni place is more important than the actual grades though

Congrats KatieB! A place at Bath is excellent! Good to hear of offers despite slipping grades. Ds1’s friends have all slipped a bit so waiting to hear, must find out the latest gossip

StuH, there are some graduate employers that still look at A-level results (although they may be changing that given the situation). I'd probably advise a resit for the D if it won't interfere too much with whatever else he's doing.

Congratulations to those who have got what they wanted/deserved. Commiserations to those who didn't. It's a really awful situation, and the amount of downgrading seems astonishingly high. It would be interesting to go back to past years' predictions to see if teachers are usually "out" by this much.

I don't think any grad employers will look seriously at 2020 A Level results. I think they'll be written off as 'that Covid year'

Hugs and commiserations Stu and CStar...hard to understand how it must feel isn't it? What a strange year this is...

Glad your teen is ok with all her grades, Meglet, and an A* in art is super hard, she must be very talented.

You'd hope so. You'd put '2020' in bold tomato sure they knew!!

StuH, I remember Teen 1 being very disappointed at missing her grades, despite the fact she still got offered a place at her second choice. However once she was settled in at uni it became unimportant (mostly as many of her friends were also at their 2nd choice!)

Ds1’s friends: one slipped by one or two grades but got his place at Southampton for computer science. The other one slipped by 3 grades I think and Southampton offered him electronic engineering and AI instead of computer science. He could take it and transfer in second year couldn’t he? It’s still the same department. His heart was set on the place rather than the course so he should probably take it I think
