In France:
we accept the grade inflation caused by teacher assessments, and will be creating an extra 10,000 university places to cope with it.
In England (from the Skynews site quoting Ofqual):
"Appeal
Ofqual has warned that appealing against a grade will affect other students from the same school because of the rank order system.
It said if one student successfully appealed against their position in the rank order it would push another student down the ranking and they would then need to be allowed to appeal."
which in turn is contradicted by the gov.uk site.
"If someone else in your cohort appeals their grade and the exam board finds an issue that affects other students’ results, your grade is protected and will not go down if the appeal was not made on your behalf."

It doesn’t seem possible that appealing would affect someone else’s grade, that would be incredibly unfair. And what if they’ve already accepted their uni offer?!

Because Ofqual are relying solely on the suggested ranking and distribution of expected grades and if an appeal is successful that must mean your rank was incorrect so others must fall down the ranks? It's nuts.

This is a sadder day than I’d hoped. The system is crap.
I really feel for these kids.

This is truly crap. Makes no sense. I know in any system there will always be someone who is disadvantaged, but the problem with this in particular is that they did not know this was going to happen. They were working towards regular exams as usual. Then the goalposts got moved through no fault of their own with no way of influencing how they were awarded (aside perhaps, from engaging with teachers during the first part of lockdown)

All change here ( probably) She has phoned Oxford Brooks to see if she can transfer courses........ the computer or rather voice at the end of the phone says yes 😀
She has 48 hrs to decide. The lady she spoke to has no idea what is going on why her offer has been changed etc. We have now found out she isn’t the only one this has happened to and several of them have already secured other offers. Her original course isn’t full and is available through clearing ! In fact she was told she could reject her original offer, apply through clearing and would be instantly offered a place without occupational health..........

Two grades? I don't see how that is justified. What were his mocks?
