Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Non-teaching update: I'm loving the training for the Police Control Room. I get my first day in the control room, listening in on phone calls on Tuesday. The atmosphere's great. Everyone appears genuinely welcoming and supportive.

I don't work in my academic job on those days so won't be. I'll be picketing on the Friday though.

Volunteer tutoring is going well. I expressed to my student and parent today that professional teachers on strike deserved more pay. I think they agreed!

Solidarity with all the teaching professionals. I hope the government sees sense and gives you a decent offer soon. :-) G

Thanks HappyG. Will be striking Thu and Fri this week.

New semester starts today while still dealing with the paperwork and marks for semester 2.

We have the threat of Ofted hanging over at the moment as we are overdue a visit. Senior leadership are driving everyone mad with the seemingly constant comments of ‘this will look good for Ofsted’ and “an inspector would see this and it’ll look bad”

I really really wish they wouldn’t give any notice and just arrive out of the blue, then they’d see what it’s like normally

[Redacted because I'm not totally anonymous on here, but *Sigh*, it shouldn't be this hard to get a PhD student.]

There are enough educators on here that I thought it might be nice to have somewhere supportive to rant and problem solve.
