Finally finished it all this morning! Sick dog over the weekend didn't help.
In other news, I presented for 10 minutes yesterday without slides (I did have a script thankfully). It will be on youtube eventually (not that I'll be watching it), so I felt the need to fret over it all day, especially when they withdrew the offer of having one slide 3 hours before the talk. Also didn't manage a technical rehearsal, which wasn't ideal given the over the ear radio mic and glasses and a hearing aid combo. Organisers were also hard to find (they were inside one of the rooms rather than a corridor), the stage was inaccessible and they ran out of free ice cream, so all-in-all I was ready to spit nails by the time I finished.

No free ice cream?! Sacrilege! Well done G_g. That would be nerve wracking for most.
Well, had my first tutoring scare on Monday evening - the lad had been sent home from school for fighting and was rather agitated! After hearing his side of it, I decided that I should mention it to the organisation that I operate through. And they said they were glad that I did and that they have contacted the school about it.
We managed to have a pretty productive hour surprisingly, and he worked well. Which given that he'd missed most of the only day that he has in school a week seems important.
Really not a part of the role that I am comfortable with. Discussing (anonymously) with a colleague who has similar aged children at school, as a parent, he says he just teaches them to punch as hard as they can and not involve the teachers. I'm glad that I took the opposite route and tried to inform the responsible adults who really should be dealing with these things, as far as that is possible.
I won't repeat the language that he reported was used against him, that caused him to resort to fighting, but it was horrible.
But we did some good maths, and that feels important too. G

Yay! Just found out from her guardian - it's a pass! Grade was C, but a pass is a pass. She needs Maths and English as a minimum along with her excellent other results to go on to do what she wants. Brilliant. So happy for her. G

Thanks all. Student did all the hard work of course, but I hope I helped her a bit and am delighted that she got the pass she needed. G
