Speedie
dj have a good run tomorrow and hope you've sorted out race plans for Cardiff!
Not the greatest of two weeks training, last weeks cold and this week has just been so busy I've just not done much mileage at all but.........ran a positive 5k this morning off a night out drinking and shortly after last weeks cold I manged a 17.53 and first sub 18 this year. Ran the whole race with Loca and felt really strong with first mile at 5.35 and then lost some on the next two laps 5.44 and 5.45 but would like to see 5.40s next time.
Good luck those racing this weekend.

Nice 5km time speedie.
I've had a worrying foot niggle for the last couple of weeks. The phys decided it's just a bit of soft tissue damage rather than a tendon injury. A couple of days cross training/rest seem to have made the difference and this morning it felt good enough to race a local 5mile. Conditions were just too perfect to let the chance of a PB slide. Everyone went out too fast, though I managed to chill a bit and watched several people pass me over the second half mile. I set a comfortable second mile, and every mile after that was faster than the previous to land me 28:33, 10th overall, and a small prize, plus a big WAVA PB.
The question is: how sore will my foot be tomorrow?!

Very impressive FF! Big 80 on the WAVA is tremendous.
I think the rest of your pbs could be due a bashing soon too!

Good weekend for all ! Got my 5k down a bit today, 18:40 to 18:14 in a month, which more importantly for me,first race where all splits have been under 6 minute a mile, happy days. 3rd again.
Track tomorrow, then mainly tapering for Cardiff.
Have a good week the rest of you.

FF - How's the foot? All ok for Oxford? Any idea what you'll be targeting?
That 5miler must be a cat with the target pace pigeons?
Other than the header is anyone else racing this weekend?

Yep - first xc of the season for me @district relays...only 4km but will soundly kill me!!
Decided to start building base for the spring halfs (hoping to do a couple) up untill the new year then ramp up the speed work and see how things go from there.
Best of luck Miser,dj & FF at your respective halfs...i look forward to the results:)

Thanks Stoosh,
Head for some reason isnt into Cardiff, normal start getting excited etc but not feeling it right now. One eye is already on winter training already. Was going to follow my Brain Training for runners book by Matt Fiztgeralds, which has done me well so far, but been reading on here about `Hadd` training. Thoughts anyone?
Also good luck To Miser,FF on Sunday. Shall be wearing a white vest with Taunton Running Club on the front Miser if you look out !
