Loca
Correction, my official time is 1:20:53, so a bit slower than I thought, hard to tell how many seconds your lose as you lose sight of the clock and run through the finish. All I need is a flat half marathon on a non-windy day, is that too much to ask?

Good work Loca, just a matter of time...... Cardiff in two weeks?
Found the 10k race I did yesterday honestly harder than the Great North Run. Course was good, few small, hilly bits, but good, just had to dig deep in the last mile. All I can put this down to is all my training has been for a half? anyone agree / disagree? That said my first 10k was Feb 43 min, now 37mins, so should nt grumble.
FF , yes bit of confidence from The Great North and bit more going into Cardiff now, no preasure as if my year ends with these times,Im a happy boy.

I have an important 50km race in three weeks so tapering now - might manage to squeeze in another attempt somewhere in November, though I will be likely training for another ultra so might still not have much speed in my legs!

Top running dj - looks like you've carried the form through from GNR and will hopefully continue through to Cardiff:)
Loca - another great performance again not helped by the weather.
Run the River Ness 10k yesterday in 37.49...felt strong from start to finish in reasonably even pacing. Certainly more in the tank and given another 6-8wks i feel i could challenge my pb again. Good confidence boost though as my head hasn't quite been in racing mode for a good few months!! XC time now so it'll be a gentle build up over the winter and go for it again in the spring!!

Nice running dj and always good to come back with a pb.
Loca gutted the wind was out in force but on a better day and flat course you've got sub 80 in the bag!
Stoosh great running considering your not racing mentally fit at the moment. As you say 6-8 weeks and your pb could come under threat again.
Not much from me this last week as a cold knocked me out so decided against running. Back running this week so will ease into it .
Good running all.

Thanks guys, weird one for me the 10k PB, after running 1:22 half, all the books say I should be running at least a 37 min 10k so, kinda expected, but nice to do it. Ran with a mate from the club who also had a 38:30 PB so was good team effort. Plenty ran past us at the start and picked them all back off though the race, liked that. Unlike Stoosh, no more in the tank, to better that, winter training is needed, (there is some honesty!) . So looking forward to Cardiff now, less people than GNR,so start should be better, flatter...... What do you guys think would be a good aim at this point to go for? 6:10 a mile?
Have a steady come back back week speedie , hate colds.
Thanks Stoosh, feeling your positive vibes.....

Djw, I'm useless at predicting speeds for myself let alone others. But your report above sounds like you ran a well pacd race, so that sounds reasonable for Cardiff..

DJ: It depends what you're after.
Hedging for a small improvement, which would keep the impression of momentum, trying to creep under 1:22 - then 6:15s, for the first 10k at least and feel quietly confident.
Sub 1:21, a big improvement, 6:10s and be ready for the hard finish and potentially bigger reward!
Either way you can look back on a pretty impressive year. Though that first 10k time was hardly a fair reflection of your ability mind, Longleat is one hilly course! Looking forward to it next year already!
