Hi folks!
I'm trying to crack sub 42 (well going for sub 41 ultimately) on 10th November at Peterhead 10k.
PB of 42:01 set in June at Fraseburgh 10k (gun time - if my Garmin hadn't gone into sleep mode just before I set off, I'm sure it would have read 41:59... - but the official time is 42:01!).
Training hasn't been optimal since then with the hot weather and no real targets to go for and the start of my 10k training for November has taken a bash due to a niggle in my foot/heel last week has set me back. Hoping to head out on Saturday to test out my foot and all going well I'll be following something vaguely similar to the plan on the first page of this thread!

Just go out and cane it and pray your foot stays intact, at least until you cross the line.

Ha - that's what I tried to do on a tempo run last week and was hobbling about for a few days afterwards. I've given myself just over a week with no running and will see how it feels on an 8 miler on Saturday...

Ran myself absolutely ragged last night for a 20:57 5k. I'll need a bit more time to hit 41:XX for 10k. It's not going to be Bourn at the end of this month.

Job done 41:46 at Stratford! Worked hard and thought at half way I wouldn't achieve it so am v pleased. 5th lady and 1st F35 too which was a nice surprise (there were 2 other F35s in the top 3 but they don't double up prizes and 4th was a senior - win!). Will write a blog at some point.

Woohoo well done Clare I suspect you can go faster based off your recent half time, but would expect you to still be tired currently from that race.
Wine or money prize?

Thanks Curly and yes, I think I could - my legs weren't fresh after last weekend's HM plus this last week's training. The course was quite good - a few hills in the first half but they also went down. The 2nd half was flat but the 4k from 5-9 was along the Greenway which anybody who has done the HM or Mara will know (and where JW ultra starts!) - a gravel surface which seems to go on forever and radiates any heat - it wasn't hot today but was clear and sunny and so the Greenway seemed to intensify and radiate any heat there was! Pleased with a strong finish too. Now back to focussing on HMs...
