Warm on the 14th in mcr would be a system shock, but I still think preferable to sideways hail. MP parkrun tomorrow after a nice week of relatively easy effort seaside running each day, then 10 with a couple at MP on Sunday. Then bubble wrap and no human contact until 14th if that could be an option. |

Brunski How warm has it been in Malta? I'm looking at a late April getaway and think Malta might be a good option. RHB, I'm not sure I'd be mixing with the parkrun rif raff a week before the marathon :D |

I am definitely hoping for a freakishly hot 21st. Miser - get on the supplements now. You should be able to buy ferrous fumarate from any pharmacy. It takes a while to top you up so the sooner the better. I am always low in iron but unfortunately can't tolerate the usual supplements so I take Blood Builders constantly to try to stop my levels getting too low. |

Chris - it's largely for discipline, if I can hold MP for 5km without chasing after anyone quicker but within reach then mentally that's helpful for on the 14th.

RHB, I'm not sure I'd be mixing with the parkrun rif raff a week before the marathon :D It's been 22-25 degrees each day, hardly seen a cloud in the sky. Highly recommend it, good food, nice people and uber is brilliant (and very reasonable for getting around as its a relatively small island). Bit of a lack of pavements in some areas makes running interesting but as long as you're not wearing headphones it's definitely doable. |

Windy seafront is not ideal for MP efforts. Parkrun yesterday started with tailwind at 5m55 briefly I eased it back down but the headwinds on an up/down 2 lapper made it hard work. Ave 6m43 pace but at 166bpm (ideally would've been closer to 160bpm) despite doing ok at not getting involved. Steady 10 w 2 @ mp effort today. I planned route to hit seafront at 7.5m then 2 mile effort to leave .5 to jog down. Clear from the start the effort would be into the wind and when I got there the rain arrived perfectly timed too. Held low 160's but pace above 7m/m until I turned inland and was at 6m44 comfortably in amongst housing so sheltered a bit from the cross wind. Anyway, not much learned but I'll take 160bpm as my starting effort next week and hopefully thst is around 6m45, and the job is to hit 175bpm only at or after mile 20. It'll be what it'll be though. Just 3 runs to go now, all steady with a few strides thrown in on Thursday & Sat. |

2 hr 50 mins for 21 miles today, pretty happy with a 75 mile week 3 weeks pre marathon. Not much in terms of marathon pace this week but where we’re staying in Malta is at the top of the hill so have plenty of climbing this week and a lot of the runs have been pretty toasty. Hills are speedwork in disguise right? |

Looking forward to seeing how you go rhb, sounds like you’ve got a good plan to manage your effort over the marathon 👍

That’s a good week and in warmer conditions should set you up well brunski. Not long now! Rhb, this is the point where the head gets the better of you. Trust the training, you’ve got this!!! Feeling a bit crap today so the 10k ended up being 42 minutes. The worst time I’ve ever done in a 10k. At least that’s some good miles done and a well needed rest day tomorrow |

Taper time Brunski? Running in to the wind will probably have raised your HR too rhb. Hope you're not coming down with something Chris. |
