As a pick me up, reminding myself that if I'd been told in 2003 I'd still be hovering around these times aged 47 I'd have been pretty chuffed at the prospect.

rhb - that's closer than I ever come to MP in training.
Chris - unfortunately I've rather crashed and burnt today. I think cumulative fatigue, over work and life stress have caught up with me and a gym session is as much as I'm going to manage. Hoping for a better night's sleep tonight and a Phoenix like resurrection tomorrow but it could just be a very cut back week.

Hoping my knee issues are fading. Did my first session in a fortnight last night and managed to get through that without pain.
Session was on a 550m loop, and did 3 sets of 2 loop/1 loop with the 2 loop at threshold and the 1 a tad quicker.
Need a few more 20 milers but cautiously optimistic that I might beat my 2:55 in the sidebar... Still over 6 weeks to go (inc a break in malta) so plenty could change.

Glad to hear your knee issues are resolving. I guess you'll get some hill training in on holiday then - just what you need for Boston.
Lurgified here and haven't run since Saturday. Tomorrow isn't looking likely either given how I still feel. Someone tell me that even a week off with less than six weeks to go won't matter......

I ran 2.5 miles in 4 days the week before last and don’t appear to have lost fitness. Hopefully the lurgy is over soon LMH

That’s good news brunski, just get those miles in! Surely the holiday can be used as a warm weather camp for running 😃 I’m starting to get nervous that aprils going to suddenly get warmer.
Got a county 20 mile race at the weekend, I’m thinking of doing it as 4 easy and 16@mp but the temptation to run a PB is getting stronger

I guess yoou need to decide whether a 20 mile PB is worth risking the marathon for Chris.

I think you'd value a shot at a marathon PB over a 20 mile PB Chris, although going by your target I guess you're looking at running sub 2 for the 20.
Tough one, you'll still be 5 weeks out from London, so will recover from it but it might well affect your training volume (or quality) for a week or so and that may impact.
But the race effort might bring you up a level once you've absorbed that.
Really hard choice.

Yeah probably not worth risking the marathon. Also I’m planning on using the old vaporflys I got off vinted, don’t want to be putting too many miles on my hood pair!
