Did my 10x800's aiming for 2m56 with roughly matching slow jog recovery. Was comfortable enough running at 5k increasing effort (hr rise matches my typical race efforts) and times were quicker than target throughout. Shoes felt springy with the track too.

Some versions of the session ask that recovery is 400m at 10km pace, that might be the better mara predictor as the fatigue builds more but I won't be doing that as a session between now & the race.

I don't think it clarifies much for me beyond i'm a bit fitter than before and the shoes do help at that pace tbh.

5km series in the summer should be fun though ๐Ÿ˜…

Good session rhb and glad to hear the shoes have found their bounce again! Iโ€™ve never understood why 10 x 800 is used as a marathon predictor though but definitely a good session.

Bit of a sore throat here today so at least that makes the decision easier to do the 20 miler below pb pace

10 x 800 at 5k with 400 recovery at 10k pace sounds literally impossible given it would be more than 10k at faster than 10k pace?

Careful Chris - that's how my lurgy started.

First run since last Saturday this morning. RHR is still raised and I'm still feeling far from 100% so just hoping that I don't have any adverse consequences.

Best and most promising run so far for me I think.
32km ~300m of ascent, gravel and a bit windy here and there.

Average pace 4:09. (Sub 3 in metric is 4:15min/km) And a good feeling and controlled effort. Also an even split.
Felt strong and relaxed for the duration.
I hope I can get a good day and try on the real thing soon :)

Promising but that's a bit fast for a LSR Bowman.

*narrows eyes and looks at race date*

Great run! Donโ€™t do it again until race day though!
