14 miles / 2hrs steady on tired legs after xc. Banana before I went lasted 12 miles. Thanks for all gel/food replies I'll look at options this week for next weekends run.
Anyone know what they give out as part of the event? If I can stomach that it might be simplest option.

Where are you running rhb? It's not in the side bar. Most of the event pages list the nutrition available.

^ Manchester (I'm lucky to be 2 to 3 miles from the course so am training on sections, today I did 7.5 miles Inc the city centre then I had to skip the dual carriageway a56 bit but then picked up the route at the weird old Trafford loop detour back up to Stretford.
I've only got A56 Sale -> Altrincham then the loop around to Timperley left to recce now.
I'll check the event website, good shout.

You're a week ahead of me then rhb. Lots of people on here of run Mancs before so hopefully they'll be able to answer your question.

SIS gels usually at Mancs, a mix of normal and some caffeine towards the end. I don't usually take them.
Some sun promised yesterday so I thought I'd take advantage of my new relaxed regime with a medium-long run in the hills. Was thick mist up there however, and my knee didn't like it much. Bit of a puzzle as it was never a serious injury, there was never an "ow" moment when I did anything, but it still feels like it's been slightly strained or bruised somehow.

Maybe the hills aggravated it jda? I'm supposed to avoid running up or down hills as much as possible to help preserve my knees.
Backed up yesterday's twenty with a slow ten this morning.

Hills and/or the twisting on an uneven surface. I'd thought that a break from repetitive impact on mostly flat roads might be as good as a rest, but obviously not.
30 miles in two days is a strong effort. Hope your body holds up!

Chris
being a few miles from the start of a marathon must be awesome. Its much nicer to spend the night before in your own bed.
Some strong miles there LMH, surely it'll be spring soon so we can have some nicer running conditions.
Turns out the 10k may have been a bad idea, sore hamstring for the last 2 days isn't ideal but hopefully I'll be able to maintain some easy miles while it recovers
