rhb - I don't run any MP miles in training so you might surprise yourself. I have a bit of a sensitive stomach and am currently using Kendal Mint gels but they are quite bulky. It was always High5 until they suddenly started giving me issues. Definitely worth testing in training. Any gel with caffeine is a no for me.
Trying to get my head in the right place for a long run this morning. Forecast is ok but I know at least two of my preferred/usual routes are flooded so need a Plan C.

I rave 😄 about jelly babies and home made kendal mint cake with a bit of salt added. I've not done any scientific experiments to prove the salt helps, but I think it's easier to get down a couple of hours into the race when the sweet stuff tends to cloy a bit.

BTW I agree about proper food, I sometimes take cereal bars on my long runs but wouldn't like to deal with that at racing speed let alone a sausage roll

That’s a shame JDA, but quite probably a smart move.
RHB - I use active root stuff - I can mix it myself so the consistency always suits and I can even drink some during half marathons. Only downsides are the relatively large flasks and needing to wear a belt.

Hope the long run turns into a positive LMH.
I had the pleasure of running with a club mate for most of mine - had to slow down the fast sections, but I rarely get to run with others, so a nice change!

I'd love some company on my runs sometimes Miser. I made it happen this morning. Really foggy early doors and I had to rethink the route I had planned as it was country roads and wouldn't have been safe. met two unexpected flooded areas so was having to route plan on the hoof but I was determined to get the twenty done and I did. Some unnecessary stopping (to eat vegan marshmallow - can't chew them and breathe and run) but not too much time wasted and overall a positive run. I do think that sub 3 is a pipe dream really though and in the grand scheme it doesn't matter. It's giving Julie something positive to focus on and raising the money for Macmillan that matters this time.

Sounds like a sensible decision jda, will you look for anything shorter?
Well done for getting out LMH, a good 20 in the bank!
10k for me this morning and 18 seconds off a pb gives me confidence age has quite gotten the better of me yet.

Top work Chris. Think you’re underselling - smashing the 35 minute barrier is a landmark time!
