LMH sounds like you need to treat the body to a cut back week. I know itโs easier said than done but maybe the best way to get to the start line healthy? Managed 22 with 5,4,3,2,1 miles at mp this morning. Pretty happy with that after 3 weeks of 80+ miles and being in zoom flys rather than vapours. Building some confidence now that a decent marathon may be on the cards. Just need to choose one. |

1.29 out 1.29.30 back. Was a lot less stressful once I ditched the bun fight behind the pacer! Really warm by the end

That's a Sub3 race mattykay? Well done if so! ๐ 18 today with middle 7 as 2x3 at sub 6m45 splits wiith 1 mile between. Felt ok even on tired body after yesterday's 5k tt effort, *but* HR was 165->175 which wouldn't be sustainable for much of the 26.2. Next MP session I'll need to be hr effort based around 155 to 165 and see what the pace is from that. I think 3.10 and under is within reach but it'd be a boom/bust effort to set off at sub 3 pace unless things improve drastically in the next few weeks as the training effect kicks in further. Given I had no thought of racing a Mara in mid Dec & had just lost 2 months to covid etc I'm happy to be at this level tbh, it should mean 17.xx for 5km in summer which would be ace once more. |

Congratulations matty! Chris - last week was a cut back. Nice running. rhb - don't forget the magic of a taper. No long run for me. I'm tired, both knees swollen this morning and left achilles grumbling. Add the flooding to that and my head just wasn't in it. In fact I nearly didn't get out at all. Went to the gym after walking the dog when I'd usually have run but then felt so annoyed with myself for letting myself off the hook that I went out and ran ten. It will do. It will have to - I'm not going again today! |

"don't forget the magic of a taper" Yeah, that's in the mix too as might be the metaspeed effect once they're in action... the latter feels like doping though. It'll be interesting to see what happens, half way there according to the plan. Easy days mostly next week then only 5 or 6 of the big/intense sessions to go, but each of those is v.big from here on of course. |

Thanks rhb. Unfortunately I think this is as good as it gets now. Too old and too many chronic health issues to sub 3 again but I've raised a shed load of money that Macmillan would probably not otherwise have had, given Julie something positive to focus on and will hopefully run my final London and enjoy it.
