Probably not enough by itself, but I’m the silent inventor of the ‘smitten’ - yes the sock mitten! - I basically just ball up enough socks in layers over my fingers to meet the conditions - found gloves just left me with cold, isolated digits where the smittens are adjustable as you remove/fold down sock layers as you warm up or tuck into as colder.
Not sure they’ll cope with the lakes right now though!

The extra problem is my wife point blank refuses to run with me wearing them…

My MiL actually knitted me something very similar Miser - a sort of over mitten that doesn't have an end or fingers so you can either have all of your fingers covered or fold them back.

I suffer with hands too. The little 'hot hands' tea bags work great but probably won't kick in in time for a 5-6 miler.

I get mighty cold hands (and feet) when cycling, but running seems to be mostly ok. Important to keep the wrist well covered which is my biggest challenge in glove-buying, especially the "one size fits nobody" ebay specials that can be very skimpy when pulled over my hands. That said, I found a good pair last year and have been enjoying them again this winter.

Right, so who else is in this year? mattykay is up next month, I'm doing Mancs (and surely not alone in that), LMH aiming for London....and plenty of others, I hope!
Place your bets...or at least your hopes and dreams....

I've no committed plans jda, I ran 12 miles this weekend with a mate who's doing London but after missing the GFA after the 5 minute GFA adjustment (I ran 3:05:xx but needed 3:05:00).
I'm going to join him when I can as he ups his mileage and then might start thinking of plans myself. The 2 that I'm considering are Ibiza at the end of Easter holidays, or Boston (Lincs) again at the end of April, but actually doing the long runs this time.
Too early to go in the sidebar though, need to get my mojo back up a bit before committing.

That's where I find the tops with the thumb holes really good jda. Makes sure your wrists stay covered.
Not quite as cold out this morning (1 degree makes such a difference!) and I slept better last night so and was feeling guilty for failing to get my btm out of the door yesterday so 14 miles in the bank.
More in hope than expectation I'll go for a 2.59.59.

I’m going for Newport on the 28th of April. Dreaming of a 2:45 - but will have to get a training wiggle on!

Today's diagnosis of covid is likely to knock me out for a bit. I'm not sure how much more time I can afford to lose and still put in a decent performance. We'll see.
