Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Good luck to mph and damo in Berlin tomorrow. I ran it the last two years and am definitely feeling some pangs of regret for not doing it this time.

Go well damo and mph.

Not sure what to do about my last long run pre-York. Weather forecast is pretty pants this week apart from tomorrow when work will stop play (typically the only day this week it would). Do I tough it out and risk a demoralising run when things have been starting to look a little better or leave it and hope the weather improves for Tuesday or Wednesday and risk not getting it done?

Morning all!
Racing what was meant to be a PB attempt today!
It’s been pissing down on and off and the winds are apparently 27mph!
What should I do in this situation!
Still try for a PB or run a more controlled race!
I don’t think I’ve ever run a Half in perfect conditions?

Two other questions!

1) Whats a good Half Marathon for PB attempts for future reference!

2) Will my Nike 4% be OK to wear in wet conditions?

Hope you guys have better luck if racing today! 👍🏻

I can't help you about the shoes Lee and as for the good HM for a PB - much depends on the weather on the day. Brass is flat and fast but was really windy this year, there's just no telling what you're going to get. Hope you've had/have a good one.

Just race the course Lee, I wouldn’t rule out a PB.

Get tucked in behind someone running your pace in any headwind, and try to find space so you feel as much tailwind as you can get on your back.

LMH - if you’ve left the run to Tues/Weds I’m sure you’ll still get it done.

I’d go out today lmh, you’ll feel better for it. Although it’s miserable weather it’s not cold.

Lee, the 4% are fine in the rain. I ran my half pb in the wet in them.

My training is almost done for the year so it’s tome to find out what’s in the legs. 5k on Tuesday, 10k Sunday and a half the following Sunday. It’s going to be a busy few days

Looking at the pics of the cycling in Yorkshire I'm feeling lucky I relocated to Oxford for the weekend. Got my 20 miles done early this morning in some heavy showers and several big puddles to splash through (feet not entirely happy by the end but they'll get over it). I'm still planning on doing another big session next weekend anyway cos I'm definitely on the undertrained side of things.

The rain was heavy here and we had quite a lot of localised flooding so I went to the gym and then just ran ten miles once the rain had stopped - well, mostly. Wednesday is looking quite good at the minute, Tuesday is a tad on the windy side which makes running difficult when you're built like Klosterhalfen.

I like to leave a bit over two weeks from my last long run until race day jda. I think I recover well but twenty two weeks out just feels like a bit too much of a risk.

Light showers here also, Managed a 36:29 at my local 10k this morning, good enough for a 2nd overall too!
