Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Super running SKR.

Hope you got on well Lee.

Windsor HM for me. It’s not a quick course but a course PB of about a minute and in the end only 15s or so outside of a Pb proper. Confidence restored after my crap HM of a couple of weeks ago. Clearly, training works!

1:23:35 for me!

Heavy rain and running against 25/30mph winds meant I wasn't going to PB!

I never felt the advantage I got running with the wind pushing me, was nearly as much as the disadvantage I suffered running against it!

Here are the splits!

1) 1m - 5:52(5:52/m) 122cal 10.22/0mph

2) 1m - 5:49(5:49/m) 120cal 10.32/0mph

3) 1m - 6:27(6:27/m) 123cal 9.29/0mph

4) 1m - 6:44(6:44/m) 124cal 8.91/0mph

5) 1m - 6:53(6:53/m) 123cal 8.72/0mph

6) 1m - 7:41(7:41/m) 125cal 7.81/0mph

7) 1m - 7:13(7:13/m) 121cal 8.32/0mph

8) 1m - 5:48(5:48/m) 120cal 10.33/0mph

9) 1m - 5:51(5:51/m) 120cal 10.25/0mph

10) 1m - 5:51(5:51/m) 120cal 10.26/0mph

11) 1m - 5:49(5:49/m) 120cal 10.32/0mph

12) 1m - 5:58(5:58/m) 119cal 10.05/0mph

13) 1m - 6:47(6:47/m) 123cal 8.86/0mph

14) 0.14m - 54(6:17/m) 16cal 9.54/0mph

At times I felt I was running on the spot!

As for Abingdon, I still think I'll attempt sub 2:55..........

Great running SKR and WW!

Good job Lee, considering the conditions.

Also P&D third edition is out now. The training schedules have turned through 90 degrees, but I 'm sure there will be more substantial changes than that.

that must have been carnage Lee! 2 min / mile difference in splits one mile to the next just because of the wind.

You going to do one more long run ahead of Abingdon? I'm debating. I really wanted to do yesterday's HM as it's a big local event for us and only one mile from my front door but it did occupy the Sunday where I would usually do my last long run. I'd normally do 17 two weeks out. Debating whether to go up to 20 but I suppose the reality is that I'd just be doing that as a number on a training log - there's probably relatively little to gain.

That's bonkers Lee it looks worse than when I did Blackpool in a stiff wind a few years ago. I basically stopped racing and waited for a group in the upwind sections. Your time looks like a pretty good effort in the conditions. Surely worth a minute or two quicker on a good day.

Super runs for WW and SKR too. Looks like there'll be a few decent autumn marathons even if we don't all shine...

WW I'm going to do the big JD session next weekend - about 44 mins of threshold in a 20-miler. Might even do a parkrun the day before too and properly batter my legs. But I'm way short of miles and fitness compared to you. Desperate measures!
