Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

You know the Ayr half has a 5pm start time jda? Just in case that influences your decision on running that instead of voy half.

I had considered Ayr but start time put me off so sticking with Kilmacolm on the Sunday.

5pm is actually quite good for me, parents house is a short walk from start and I don't mind evening races. Also the 10k for mrs jda is good (she doesn't do longer these days). On reflection maybe I should keep the Vale of York entry, if the ayr race doesn't go well for any reason - and I think it's a new event - I suppose I might want to do the other and hopefully a good chunk of the fee goes to charity anyway. However it does clash with a swim in Windermere that I am also tempted by as that is the last open water event of the summer. Don't know how full it is LMH.

I'm afraid that my sub 3 attempt at Snowdonia is off - it is likely that my 12 year streak will be coming to an end. I haven't been able to run properly since a 10k race last month - it would appear that the 2 mile descent (from just over 1000feet) at the end of the race has caused a stress fracture, although that hasn't been officially diagnosed, so perhaps a bit of hope I'll be at the start line for no.13? At least I comfortably won the race and recorded the 2nd fastest time on the course - plus the dubious honour of being the oldest ever winner of the race!?

Hi jda. Thankfully the weather looks decent - low teens, which suits me well. Likely be a little windy though as a lot of the course is run close to the water by the looks of it. Still trying to work out how to run this - there are a few undulations.

It’s very low key here. I am staying close to the start line but you would have no idea a marathon was happening tomorrow.

Ah, it was with you saying about selling your entry that made me ask jda. I seem to remember it filling early in previous years but that didn't happen this year, I wonder if last year's traffic carnage put a lot of people off.

Sorry to hear that John but if it happened last month an x-ray should confirm or otherwise by now.

Go well tomorrow jomo.

The Reykjavík marathon went better than expected today. Ran a 2:47:13 PB and finished 6th overall and 1st V50! OK - it was a fairly small race and not exactly on the hit list for the Kenyans, but I will take that any day.

Strange race in many ways. Once we split from the HM runners at half way the race felt more like an early morning solo training run in Richmond Park. There were basically no supporters for 20k and it was run in the countryside with lots of strange twists and hairpins to add to the many undulations. Didn’t feel like a PB course so very happy with my time. Next stop the Blue Lagoon
