paul0, I’m going to say honestly I don’t see 2:50 in that. You are looking at marginal differences across those sub-3s, I’d suggest 2:55 is a realistic target. Though I’d also prefer to use tune-up races as a guide rather than training volume!

Sunday cannot come quickly enough - with my running pulled back massively on the taper I seem to be spending all my days checking multiple weather sites in the vain hope one of them is going to tell me it's not going to be too hot. No luck so far!

I think so Chris. What will be, will be. Unless Jomo has any luck with his hunt for a poor forecast (let us know!).

I did 8 miles today with 2 miles at (target) MP (6:30). And that's me done and dusted! I've always taken the school of thought that anything in the last week is purely for mental benefit, so happy now to just enter the cotton wool.

jda, that's exactly the kind of frank assessment I need to hear! I agree with you on the basis of training volume alone <2:50 doesn’t look there. I ran 1:22 half back in February which also suggests it’s not there. I’ll keep thinking about it over the week, because with the heat especially, I'm sliding towards scaling back ambitions. It’s just hard to get as pumped to go for a 2:54 or a 2:53.

Chris, my longest run this week will be (has been) between 6-7 miles. Just did 6 at lunch, nothing too strenuous but worryingly had to stop after about 4 miles to use the park bathroom facilities.

Probably have another run on Thursday, and then a couple miles in London Saturday late afternoon/early evening.

In terms of longest runs, I did a very slow 20k on Sunday past and am now down to 8-10k super slow runs purely to keep me sane and will only do a gentle 5k on Sat. My last MP run was last week.

Did 7 easy miles at lunch time today.
Might do 7 miles tomorrow (P&D calls for 2 of them at Marathon Pace).
Other than that, it's nothing more hardcore than walking the dogs this week!

I'm on the same plan as you Fergus so thats what I have too. Just thinking with the warmer weather would it be worth going out for 10 tomorrow

I might not even do the full seven tomorrow - I'm all about conserving energy and avoiding injury risk at this stage Chris ;-).
