That’s just bad luck fordyboy, there’s still time for things to setttle down so don’t lose the faith.

Get thee to a physio Fordy! It's got to be worth a few quid to see if it's something they can sort quickly, could be something as simple as tight quads and poor tracking so some stretching, icing and tape might fix you.

I don't know if it's the taper effect already or what but I felt awful this morning and really struggled to get out the door and then to stay there. It took five miles for my legs to decide to give in and realise that the faster they went the sooner we'd be done. I thought I'd be all fresh and bouncy after a few days of lower mileage.

That would be a real shame at this stage Fordy. I agree, see a physio and you never know.

Thanks guys. As luck would have it, I've just moved offices and I now sit opposite a physio (perk of working for the NHS) so I've had a good chat with her this morning and as LMH suggested, she thinks it may well be a tight quad that's the problem so has told me to stretch / foam roll it. That's my evening sorted :)

Don't wait until then Fordy - every time you can (when you go to the loo/make a coffee) give the quad a good stretch for 30 seconds or so at a time. Fingers crossed!

Fordy- get stretching mate, too much work been put in to sack it off now! I've had some success with strapping the knee with kinesiology tape (some good videos on YouTube for how to strap it).

Chris - thanks for asking, managed to get out for 50 minutes or so at lunch for a steady run. Certainly helped shift a bit off the chest (won't go into detail), wouldn't have fancied running any quicker but the tempo stuff can wait until it's fully cleared. Amazing what a couple of days properly resting does for overcoming illnesses :-)

Sounds like a win/win Fordy - happy colleagues, happy glute (hopefully).

Glad to hear that you're feeling better Brunski, easy does it though eh?
