Blister,
When I started at age 16, I believe I ran around 2:01 and 4:55 my first year of competition.

IMO to have a**realistic** shot at breaking 2 min one needs to have a 55sec 400m speed or better.

Haha umm just a little
Wow thats an impressive start Jhuff...mind you my mile PB is 4.55 so there's hope for me yet haha
Well I'm very confident I can get under 55... I've only ever ran 2 flat out 400m - the first was after doing a 1500m race and I ran 57 and the second was last year on a training night in leggings and I ran 56.

I'll join you in your quest to break 2 mins.
I first ran the 800m and 1500m last summer and managed 2.04 and 4.27. this was on the back of a winter of very little mileage so hoping this year after a winter of 40-45 miles per week i should have a good shot at breaking 2 mins. I have done no short interval work this year so far apart from a few 800m rep sessions, I have just focused on reps between 1k and 2k and tempo runs to build endurance and speed endurance but looking to start the shorther work later this month and start honing that speed.
