Ooo three posts all for me :)

Thanks for the advice Moraghan, I understand what your saying and in that context it seems a little closer to what I've been told is the correct way to train. The base period sessions sound pretty nice and easy, I guess it would allow me to "keep" higher mileage during the week....although my mileage has been very low recently due to a few factors...mainly time.

Wow thats awsome Jhuff, I remember doing 4 x 400m with 6 min recovery in 59-61 each and found that hard... but 10 x 400m in under 60 with 60 sec recovery ouch!

... And the Dark Lord has spoken! So speed it is then (once Ive finished my degree)

Thanks SPR.

Blister - During early base I did my primary workout on the friday, the 10 * 100m on the saturday with an easy 14 miler on the sunday (secondary workout on the tuesday). They are easy enough not to interfere with that format.

10 * 400 in 60 with 60 rest would be nice!

I'm reading a book at the moment called Once a Runner (about a 4 minute miler) and he does this session in one chapter which is:

3 x (20 x 400 in 62-63 secs with 100m jog recovery and 400m jog recovery after each set of 5)

So 60 400m reps which is about 15 miles...crazy!

800m pace session for me today in the wind and rain. 2 * (4 * 200m) w / 100 jog ; 400 jog between sets. Averaged 29.48 and felt pretty good. Anyone else with any recent sessions?

Moraghan,

I actually had nice session today. Started off with 4.5mi aerobic run at 6:23mm pace. After 5min recovery did 6 x 200m@(31,31,31,30,30,29) with 90sec recovery between each. Was quite pleased with it.

Nice workout yourself.

Nice sessions. What kind of effect does that session offer Jhuff? (I mean doing reps after a run of that distance/effort).

I did a 3 x (4 x ~200m on a grass slanted field) with 15 sec recovery between reps and lap recovery beteen sets. Was very tough! Did it with Jamie who is aiming for sub 1.55 this year.

Uni dissertation will be handed in tomorrow so can focus on running more now.
