We have a Wi-Fi plug so we can set it as a timer or turn it on remotely using our phones. Great for coming home to hot food after the hockey

Ours is a Lakeland one and I find the auto setting is pretty good for when I have to leave the house early - I'm not sure how it works but it is better than just using the low setting.

Going to do gammon tomorrow (soaking today) How much water do you use? Enough to cover the bottom once meat is in? Should I raise the meat? Oh and I saw crockpot liners at the supermarket to save with the cleaning!! |

Our slow cooker is very much under utilised and I am going to rectify that this year, it is such an amazing tool to ensure you have a meal ready when you're ready for it. When I'm in super organised mode I will often cook one meal while prepping another for the slow cooker which we then switch on when we leave for work. For Christmas day we did a joint of brisket to supplement the chicken (sacked off the turkey) and it was simply delicious. The left overs we shredded down and added it to the gravy for a gorgeous hot beef sandwich. My brother gave me some recipes for slow cooker ideas. I don't know if I can attach any copies but if you're interested drop me an fmail with your email address and I'll attempt to forward it to you. It has things in like massaman curry, beef and bacon chilli, chinese beef, veggie stew, and many more. All mega easy to do, only one that I felt didnt work as well was honey garlic turkey but don't know if it was on too long as it felt a bit dry... So for the chicken/turkey dishes I'd probably not put it on as early. |
