I had I think it was Aeropex originally and it is true the button went unreliable on that. I had two pairs of the Pro since, and these have the magnetic charger and neither of those developed a faulty button, so I speculate there was a small hardware change. In any case, if it developed a fault I would try rinsing in water since it is IP55. (This worked for a sticky button on an Epix watch, FWIW.)

I'm a year in to my first ever pair of OpenRun and love them. I'm hoping they last but when the time comes I would certainly buy again. The only drawback I have found is listening to speech-based stuff like podcasts in noisy environments. With music, your brain kinda fills in the blanks of unheard stuff (or it doesn't really matter), whereas with speech you can miss a lot if running in environments with heavy background noise such as traffic. |

I came across this thread while searching for Shokz .. I have an aged mother (97) who is hard of hearing and for who, in-ear hearing aids would be too much of a faff. I have a cunning plan to get some Shokz which I can use. But I'll take with me when I visit her. If I get her a cheap mobile that has bluetooth, I can link it to the Shokz, then call her from my mobile via Whatsapp (free phone call). She then ought to be able to hear me clearly and I'm hoping this will save having to shout to make myself heard and understood. Re the earlier discussion about in-ear pods, I've always struggled with those type falling out. But my hearing aids are bluetooth-enabled and they sit tight in my ears. So an alternative to using the Shokz when out on my morning walks, would be to listen to music/podcasts that way. |

sounds like a great idea Mel, I love the Shokz and would see them working well in this situation, hopefully she can manage the switch on/off ok?

@WtnMel as a hearing aid wearer definitely worth a go The on off is small but you press and hold and it says something or plays a tune so you know when done To answer you just press the side of the “ear” bit so shouldn’t be an issue Love mine |

geordiegirl / evilpixie - thanks for your comments In a situation with my Mum, I'd switch the Shokz headphones on and do the work of linking them to her mobile and answering the call and get it working, then pop them on her head. As I'm sure she wouldn't cope with a small on/off button |

Sigh
I bought these generic ones at the end of September, £36. Absolutely fine, just as good as the Shokz (which died after 4 years use but cost more to begin with).
