Big G - I'm looking forward to the 1500m. I'm a big Ingebrigtsen fan.

WP - I know, bad timing but I have time to get rid of it.

Not good that your RHR is raised again.

That is the bonus you have time I think race is 11th?

Yesterday I ran a hilly route first time so just hoping a bad night and the route are the cause.+7

I am also looking forward to the 1500m I like Kerr so will be a good tussle between them.

WP - yes IOM a week today.

I'm surprised a hilly run affects your RHR.

A couple of times I've had slightly higher RHR the morning after a very tough gym session but only 2-3 bpm.

I see Purdue is sadly out of the marathon, ankle injury. Evans will take her place.

Oh blimey a week today!! that has come around really quickly.

I have noticed recovering from Covid that was what was happening -so tried to find flatter routes. But thought I was okay to give my hilly route a go yesterday. The way this is going no idea if Cardiff will happen as that is 8 or 9 weeks today!

Oh blimey SAFP last night with hamstring,Jake whiteman and now Purdue. They make it through 3 years of training and then get an injury!

Been trying to watch the cycling but find navigating past events on the iplayer just a total mess.

Shades/WP- Sorry to hear you’re feeling poorly.

I’m also at the tail end of a chesty virus/infection thing I’ve had the last week. It’s therefore been all easy running up until yesterday where I did just over 20 miles with a couple of faster bits to test the body. Felt good especially as it was on a hillier route around Richmond park (hilly for me, so not very for most!) so think I’ll be ok to re-add tempos from here. Travelling back to the girls so rest day today.

WP - surely you'll be OK for Cardiff. Perhaps now only train when RHR is less than 5bpm over normal. I heard that too much too soon delays post Covid recovery significantly.

Rcouture - I don't have any streamed coverage and I'm finding it a nightmare negotiating BBC's random coverage. I've now resorted to recording BBC 1 and then skipping through all the bits I don't want to see. Red Button seems to have better athletics coverage and they've mentioned the women's road race, not sure how much of it will be shown.

I gave up on the iPlayer, that was useless.

Sorry to hear you've been poorly too, but you've bounced back from that well. You can't blame the girls for that virus.

I bet they'll be so pleased to see you.

Rcouture-Have a good trip.
I can't wait for the 1500,it's the event I'm most looking forward to.I wonder how much of the back and forth with Kerr and Jacob is to drive up interest.
8.5 after work brings up my 6th 50m week, off to the lakes for a couple of days this week so may struggle for another.

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
