Vrap - I prefer to fly. But the ferry from Holyhead is good, not practical for me as a very long drive for me. I'd run Snowdonia the day before.

Ally-C - even as a last resort I doubt I'd use Ryanair again. If no alternative airline I'd choose to go somewhere else.

Ian, having looked more closely, I now think I’m going to do the same as I’m 10mins walk from the library. I would ideally have liked the ferry, but the bus will be easier overall. Can you remember how they seeded the runners for start times - I don’t remember giving them a finish estimate or a recent race result.

It was definitely seeded and you go in waves like London, but a lot quicker.
I entered via GFA so guess they had my info that way, pretty sure around August I had to confirm my best time on my NYRR dashboard, but may not be right on that.

15 months is a long time to have not run a marathon.Sounds like excitement is building for Dublin.I have always caught ferry and I do like travelling that way than flying;-)

WP - the trouble with flying now is the amount of time you waste having to get to the airport 2 hours pre flight. Gone are the days when you could rock up 30 minutes before flights from regional airports.

That's assuming you get to the airport at all of course 🤣

The ferry to the IOM can be quite rough. One year when I was taking my car over the ferry was full of families with lots of excitable annoying children running around. As we got further out to sea it was pretty rough. Gradually the annoying children got quieter and quieter. They went paler and then green as their long suffering parents had to take them to the toilets, never to be seen again thankfully.

Ah I remember those good old days flying from Swansea airport just turn up 30 minutes before hand easy peasy. Not long after the airport closed and we then had to go to Bristol but back then 30 minutes again nice and easy.

Oh dear the ferry sounded a rough trip in all senses of the word.

I know no one wanted my ice bath apart from Rob for his legs, but there was no need to steal it from the courier........Looks like courier has lost it have to give them 2 more days then they will send another one out.........They are a company in London and use Amazon to deliver it.

WP - so annoying when you're really looking forward to getting your new purchase and they mislay/lose it.

You might end up with two 🤭

I know and I stayed in yesterday in case it arrived. A friend also ordered one aand she got her's next day.

I don't think I would be so lucky to have two :)

About This Thread

Maintained by Shades
Back in December 2005 I started a thread on Runner's World offering a marathon training plan on 3 runs a week. I had my own running club at the time (Womens Running Network) and I had successfully trialled the training plan when I took a group of girls to Dublin to run their first marathon.

Over the years the thread has evolved into a chat thread, with a bit of training advice, race reports, for predominantly marathon runners.
