Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I just enjoyed it as a day out last year Wardi. Very different experience to when chasing a time. I'm finding my hands are still struggling on the Nifedipine and my chilblain still hasn't healed totally. :-(

Wardi - I'm with you on the cold hands, all the extra biking has been tough on mine, I would normally do a lot double run commuting when its cold.

DT - consider the 3 or 4 days off thing......

Well done on the parkrun and 18 miler DT. Very unlucky with the timing of the cold but hopefully a few taper days will sort you out.

Wardi can't you just wear thicker gloves. I wear padded ones, not designed for running at all, but seem to do the job.
Hope the 20 went well riggys. A big week!
LMH, anywhere on the north east coast is good. There are beautiful beaches all the way up from Tynemouth to to holy island. Best if you have a car to explore the coast and Northumberland towns like Warkwoth and Bamburgh.
The relays went well, and our V50 team took the gold. It was a tight race where we went from 3rd on leg one, to hanging on to a lead on leg 4, finally winning by 15 seconds. Then today was a ploddy 20 for a 50 mile week.

We are off to London on Thursday, and Battersea parkrun is on the menu. A few runs round Greenwich park too.

Safe travels to the Tokyo guys...

OO61 - congrats on the v50 team gold!

DT - fingers crossed the gunk and lurgy shifts sharpish! I like the novelty of the office at the moment, but it's no longer conducive to running in as we now need to bring our laptops in and out.

riggsy - good training! I'll take your word for it on the eye injection.

Wardi - I don't envy you this cold weather. It's bad enough down here!

LMH - sorry to read the test run went badly!

Joolska - you seem to be enjoying your training. Good to see you considering racing again.

TR - good step up from you this week. Fingers crossed it carries on next week.

Despite leaving it until late today to get over the line I ticked off my twin aims for the week of 20m of running and 4 weights sessions.

The coaching side is going well overall too. One is unfortunately sidelined with what looks like a recurrence of an old problem, but the other two are doing fantastically. Both raced well at the end of big weeks this week, with one of them getting a 10m pb and podium, so it has all been extremely gratifying!

Evening all

Congrats on the v50 team gold OO61 and nice 20 today

Hopefully getting better DT well done on the 18

Nice double wardi and a great weeks milage

Turbo probably a good option TR given your weather

20 miles today lots of it off road and lots of it muddy. Enjoyed it and weather better than forecast. Took more than 3 hours but happy given conditions underfoot

43 miles for the week with 33 of it this weekend. Highest week total since oct last year.

Very positive post TT. Good to read.

Congratulations on the win OO61. Knee must have behaved if you could run 20 ok after that? I'm afraid with Reynaud's no amount of thicker gloves/extra pairs/thermal etc will keep the hands warm. I've tried untold number of different pairs/combinations. It was worse when I was tri training and had to be out on the bike. I've been to Seahouses a couple of times but would need somewhere slightly closer if I were to head that way again.

Great progress riggys. I hope my rehab goes as well.

Another very cold day here - currently a feels like of -3C and not feeling above freezing until 1300hrs. Almost pleased to be in the gym rather than trying to get out for a run. Almost.

TR, I don't think i'm quite there confidence wise to take the 4 days, particularly as these are the last 4/5 days training. I'll be forced to take down time as I wont run when I get to Japan other that race day.

Solid work on the 20 Riggsy.

Congrats on the win 00 and good work on the following 20.

TT, good to hear the coaching is going well. Not much you can do about an old injury flaring up for someone. That's a decent amount of training time with the weigh sessions as well.

Hold steady, LMH it's forecast to be 14c on Friday. I'll be complaining it's too warm!

Fed up of me blowing my nose, my wife strongly encouraged me to turn up at the GP surgery for 8.30am this morning. They were able to then refer me for an immediate consultation with the pharmacist next door who diagnosed sinusitis and 10 minutes later I was walking out with a 5 day course of antibiotics, 8 tablets a day. He said to come back next Monday if not cleared it. Hopefully i'll be good now by the time I fly next Wednesday.

I'm glad you went and got the antibiotics DT19. Just make sure you listen to your body and don't push the intensity, it may be above the neck but you're still fighting an infection. Typically I'm working Friday! No idea if I'd have been able to run anyway. I can definitely still feel the hamstring and my lower back is still stiffening up given half a chance. :-(

Sorry to hear you’re still struggling @Little Miss Happy Frustrating losing days like that.
Good to read that you’re getting back into it @TR

Go easy @DT19 not worth digging yourself into a deeper hole. Risk has got to be greater than the reward at this stage.
Congratulations on the Relay win @OO61

Great progress @TippTop Well done on the coaching success.
Took another 5 days off after Saturday’s racing. Easy 4.5M along the canal Thursday was my limit so Friday off too.
Saturday was 4M wu then MT parkrun. I ran 22:34 on this course 3 weeks ago after an identical wu so pretty pleased with 21:58. GF picked me up after which was appreciated.
Sunday I risked another run - did 11K but should’ve turned around sooner. 18M for the week is not ideal marathon prep.
Fortunately I seem to have gotten away with it as managed a 10K today finishing with 2.3M@7:4x on a slight uphill. 🤞I can build a bit more this week

Hi

Fetch has said us RW refugees can relocate here. I know there are existing sub3 and 3.15 threads, but the fetch threads seem to be for more infrequent posters. The RW threads are more of a daily diary.

We'll see how it goes.

I'm a M57 hanging on to sub3. I'm unattached harriers so like a place to talk a bit of running and find some inspiration and accountability.
