Sorry was busy......I think im ok........acid test with evening run home yday (shorter session of bike reps in the morning) and run back this morning. Hammy survived but it's destroyed the rest of me as there's a significant up and down each way (3/4 mile), probably the downhills........actually managed 7m home yday, hammy was tight so roller and heat, was easier this morning so did the 4m of easier paces Kenyan hills in a 10m run, so good news......but I'm ruined now.......bike tomorrow, won't try that combo again this week........I've done both runs in the same day 100s of times, the mountain is getting higher.

TT.. good to see you ticking over with a few miles & sessions. Re. Club records our website has all the current info on there. Most of the absolute fastest male records have gone in the last 3 years. The lady who won on Sunday ran 3.18 on a very stormy day at the York marathon so I think it's a matter of time before she breaks the current record of 3.14. She has started to nibble away at the other distances. TR.. sounds like you reached a limit and stopped before injuring yourself again. Just do what you can do to stay fit and healthy. Recovery in senior years is sadly slower than our youth. DT19.. the first 2 runners were affected on Sunday, I haven't seen any apology from the organisers yet. Similar incident.. In the East Hull 20 race (which I ran many times) they had 2 internationals competing one year - Dominic Bannister and Tracey Morris. Bannister was leading and the lead cyclist missed a turn at 17-18m. The Marshall tried calling him back to no avail. A swift decision was made to send everyone the wrong way to keep the results meaningful. This became known as the East Hull 19.3! Glad your airways are clearing, OO.. good training, that's a brisk 5m tempo section. Welcome to the raw wind club! LMH.. I'm beginning to think the wet/windy stuff that's due is maybe worse than what we have. It's the Snake lane 10 up here on Sunday, forecast is 43mph gusts and rain. Glad I didn't get a place now. 5.5m + 4.1m today, very cold again but a nice day otherwise. |

Wardi- I'm not used to the quick turnaround and running the long descents at the mo.....I'll try it again next mon/Tues.

That doesn't sound so bad TR. I thought you had managed to properly crock yourself again. Wardi - I'm beginning to wish I hadn't got an Ashby place. Hope to be fit enough to jog round for the hoodie if nothing else. Physio this afternoon and under instructions to try a run this morning. Can't say I'm hopeful. |

I am incredibly pleased to report a successful four mile run with no hamstring issues. Really hoping that's it and I can start to build up again now.

Excellent news LMH, that must be such a relief. Onwards and upwards, but steady mind. Pleased for you. TR - Good to see you able to manage an evening/ morning run within the same 20 hour turnaround window. Wardi - East Hull 19.3, like it. One of the great benefits of being retired is to choose when to run, so had an easy 13m run to (a half term holiday teeming) Padstow and back in the dry, sun and warm (12c) this morning. 4 hours later, raining cats and dogs. |

LMH - yay, excellent. What did the phys say, are you allowed to build? Similar plan to me I guess? Ouchie- wow, that sounds nice. Was still cold when i was biking this morning. Big game tonight. Heat, roller and stretches last night so wasn't so ruined this morning, but I did have bum cake weakness on walking from my good leg this morning, bizarrely. However, did the now standard bike hill reps, worked hard so my engine will be none the wiser. Aim to run tomorrow, not sure re Friday now as I have a days leave, so might be another 4 day run week if i can run Thurs and Saturday. |

Physio is cautiously optimistic. Continue with rehab, adding some more weight, and build the running over the next ten days. Need to make a decision about London. IIRC the GFA entry deadline is the 27th. -4C here at 0700hrs today OuchOuch! Forecast to warm up tomorrow but become increasingly windy. Isn't it half term there this week? |
