DT - I've been to Malaga before but not since 1994! Sounds good to me. Valencia has become a massive event now.
OO - Yes, it sure does. I love a bit of winter sun. Give me that any day over a snowy destination. I have friends who live relatively near Alicante so that could be an option.
LMH - What sort of mileage are you doing atm?
Big G - I've had PF twice in recent years and once for almost a year. It's a pest to shift and at one point I was limping when walking. I had acupuncture and that worked for me. Also had physio who used to give my affected foot a massage each session to stretch it out. It really helped and I used to look forward to that every week.
Had the most awful sleep last night (about 2 hours) and was up at 5am to catch the red eye to Guernsey. In all the years that I've been coming here I've never had such a seamless flight/taxi ride to the office. Flight departed Jersey at 07:10 and I was outside the office at 07:40. It usually takes anything between 20 & 40 minutes in a taxi due to traffic and the flight is nearly always delayed. The flight was 8 mins. Lol. 6 mile progressive runch finishing with a 6:24 mile. Starting to feel a bit more like myself but still a long way to go fitness wise. Patience and consistency is key. Unbelievable weather here, shorts and vest and glorious sunshine with very little wind. The forecast for the weekend isn't looking good with very strong winds. I loathe the wind.

I'm off to Tenerife (Los Gigantes) on Thursday, there's a few keen hill walkers in our crowd so no doubt we will be up in the hills occasionally. I managed to run in 27/28 degrees in a very warm June in Nice last year so 23/24 in Tenerife should almost feel chiĺly!
DT19.. crap weather appearing on race weekends seems to be a pattern this year. It was awful at the York marathon.
Riggys.. can you cycle as an alternative? Not the best time of year for it I know but it helped keep me fit in late summer when I was injured. My Raynauds prevents me from cycling in the colder months.
Pleasant morning here, a bit of sun and no wind to speak of. 6.3m done, the Mrs wants a short run later so might join her.

Afternoon
Hope the weather forecast doesn’t change for the worse DT.
Thanks for all the encouragement and advice folks.
Great talk of winter sun.
Tried to do lowering my left heel of the step but the Achilles didn’t respond well to it so for the moment staying away from that (but will try it regularly to check progress). Yesterday was thinking of a run today but now thinking otherwise.

I hope you didn't riggys. You need to be as patient as a patient thing being patient.
I would love some warmth Gerard. Had to scrape the ice off the car this morning. Managing around 50-60 miles a week currently depending on how many days I work.
I'd be looking forward to that too Wardi.

Gerard, I went there for a stag weekend in around 2004. I saw earlier that 5200 runners came in sub 3 on Sunday. When you balance that as a proportion of the field size and how many manage it in majors from much bigger fields then it is huge.
That sounds very pleasant, Wardi. Enjoy!
Ouchouch, thanks, I'll take a look. Though if I were traveling to spain that weekend i'd properly opt for Valencia.
Wind forecast has eased a bit, though it could change 10 more times by sunday.
I feel like something has changed over last 2-3 weeks with paces I am hitting and how i feel in training. Today I did 10m mlr at 7.42mm and bounced along. I have been following stats on fetch in particular beats per mile. Today was the first time for an easy run that I have averaged under 1000 for the whole run, coming in at 982. I've done so for tempo runs before mainly because I get through the miles faster than my HR rises, but never for an easy run. Hoping the weather allows me the chance to really test things on sunday.

Big G - i stopped running in the summer of 2016 and started again in New year due to PF.......I never wear flip flops or shoes like pumps as a safeguard, and limit bare foot.
Wardi - enjoy yourself
DT - you are seeing more and more good signs re your fitness. Hope the weather is kind for you........GW is usually wet and windy in July let alone December l.
Gerard - I live so close to lakeside that I never walk or run there, it's about a mile west for me.......there is a 5k summer series, a parkrun and hosted a big 5m race Sunday.
Riggsy - keep at it.
I was more sore running today from ydays weights than from the road rash and my achey glute, which made a change.

Just read an interesting stat from the Valencia marathon.. 2.59.59 would have got you 5,200th place. 🤔

Wardi - nice. I used to live near there. There's a nice run albeit quite hilly from there to La Arena via Puerto de Santiago. I'm envious of the warm temps, enjoy!
LMH - that's a decent weekly number, something I'm aspiring to get back to.
TR - fair enough. I quite enjoy the loop around Lakeside.
DT - yup, it's massive. Surprised it wasn't added to the list of majors. Those numbers are very promising. Instead they added Australia. I certainly won't be venturing that far to race.

DT/Wardi - That's mental and a time of 2.39 for c1200th! I think Valencia is on the 7th December so a week after Alicante. Keen on Alicante as the only marathon reachable by flights from our local airport Newquay, otherwise its a 6 hour round trip to Bristol or longer to Gatwick/ London. I've just had a strong coffee so now dangerously thinking of the Alicante-Valencia double!
TT - How are things now - hopefully on the up?
DT - More evidence that your running in stock market terms, re-rated! LMH - A regular 50-60 mpw is in the sweet spot.
Wardi - Lovely temps to look forward to, Malaga forecast has dipped to 17C which is good enough. Went to Los Gigantes in 2022, went on a dolphin and whale spotting trip, and saw loads of both, as apparently they were all taking shelter in the bay a day or two before the approaching storm. Their senses told them a storm was coming.
An easy 8m along the local river trail - rather crisp but sunny y'day and planning a run with the club later - hopefully 7m @ 7mm.
